You sure about that? I know what an ECU is, and what it looks like...but don't see it in the engine compartment. There is one that looks like it, but it's not the main ECU. The one on the passenger side, next to the noise generator tube, is actually the Injector Drive Unit (looks just like the main ECU).

I was told the main ECU is located on the passenger side compartment, next to the glove box. I don't think it's in plain site, but I'll go check again.

Add Me to the list

Of people who are having this exact same problem. Oddly enough my cruise control light gets stuck in the on position too (though this is probably an unrelated issue). Car is at the dealership in Vegas, so hoping this is resolved quickly.

I'm in Nevada, the problem occured at 1100 miles. Was at a stop light and experienced the strong "shaking" and both lights are on. Car has been at the dealership since 9/25. Have an FR-S.

They are doing so out of the kindness of there corporate hearts, which in and of itself is a rare occurance.

I would implore you all to keep in mind that they are only obligated to fix the problem as outlined in the warranty. Anything outside of that, is them going the extra mile for you. They will do so on a case by case basis. If you act like an arsehole or a jerk, dont expect them to do anything outside of whats in black and white.

That being said, if you bring up valid concerns, such as depreciated value as a result of extensive engine work on a brand new car, with a calm and collected demeanor, I find it hard to believe the regional representative would not be able to accurately address this concern with proper recourse for your case. They will do so on a case by case basis and will not issue a blanket "compensation" package across the board for anyone that claims they have this issue. Thats how you end up with people faking problems and screwing up the process for everyone just to ge the freebies, and let me tell you, I would LOVE some frs freebies.

Be calm, collected, and polite when dealing with your representative. Create a reasonable business case for requesting any sort of compensation and make sure youre request is REASONABLE. For example, if your car is in the shop for a month, it would be reasonable to request that months payment be compensated. Doesnt mean you will get it, but its a reasonable thing to ask for.

Under no circumstance use the argument "well these guys on the forum said they are getting free x, y and z". This will NEVER get you what you want, and will only make you sound like an entitled freebie mongering jerk. Compensation is done on a CASE by CASE basis. Bringing up someone elses claim will not help you, it will however harm your chances.

Best of luck to you gents.
Well said and refreshing to read.

You're right. I have no clue where it is. It looks like they were under the panels on my passenger kick plate from what I can tell. Hmm

Hopefully it won't come to that - car has been pretty rock solid, especially since filling with non-ethanol fuel.
I bought the car @ Toyota of Puyallup and that is where I took it for service. Hopefully you wont have it happen to you. I have had the car back for 1 week and no problems so far. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Whereabouts in Renton are you? I've seen one near the Landing before.

Just got off the phone with my rep here are the details.

They want me to drive my car over the weekend and make sure no lights come on and follow up with me on Monday. They asked me to send my billing statement so they can credit me a payment and that he was only authorized to credit me a payment and would voice my concern for a warranty to the higher up.

I told the rep that my biggest concern is getting my car on the road and keeping it there and not having to bring it back for little fixes. I brought up the Chirping sound since there is now a SB. I told the rep that a payment being made for the 20+ days of downtime was the least they could do for me and that considering the ECU/Chirping/Taillights the extended warranty would make me feel better and give me piece of mind. I also told him that having owned 3 previous Scions and multiple Toyotas all through TFS that if they were go above and beyond and install the Five Axis Lip Kit on my FRS it would simply make me feel better about the whole situation since I wanted it installed but no dealers in my area offered it.

I know they have no obligation to install the lip kit or give me anything but as patient as I have been through a dealer trying to charge me over MSRP and my car being in the shop for 20+ days and possiblly going back at the end of the day perception is reality and unfortunatlly it seems like my VIN has a batch of problem parts.

New Update on Monday

Update;
Just got a call from the Scion rep. I was told they have installed the parts on my car and are driving the car. He said I should get the car back today, but I kinda have a feeling it will be tomorrow if anything. He said that if I get it today/tomorrow, to drive it over the weekend and he will contact me again on Monday about compensation. So far I think things are moving positively.

Okay, I found the ECU and took about 100 pictures of it until I snapped one showing the last few digits (it's not easy to get a picture of).

They DEFINITELY put in the latest ECU. My ECU shows it to be the 811 unit. Here's the hard to view pic:

Sucks that this new ECU (811) and cam gear didn't fix my issue!
