Yes it sure is a weird community. Guys yell for more HP (not just you) but then when a guy with high HP spins out and wrecks he get's ragged on for having high HP. Nobody can win I guess.

That's it! Its like nobody wins no matter what you do with this car. Its definitely not the best car for everything, but it is really good at a lot of things. I have kind of cut back on my rhetoric and I'll bring up HP again when I actually do something about it and make a thread. |

One of my uncles had hardwired a detector into his dash. On a trip through Ontario, he got pulled over and the cop knew he had a detector even though it was not visible. My uncle was told that he had to remove the unit IMMEDIATELY. As in the cop pulled a tool set from his squad car and told him to start pulling the dash apart..... |

Partly an age thing. In my younger years ... I was always looking for a better paying job. A bigger house. A bigger boat. Faster, more powerful and interesting cars, etc. etc. I wanted more .. More .. More.
Now that I'm older and wiser... Well ...........shit. I still want more. I haven't learned a damn thing.

Hmm, interesting. This was 2006ish, so that was probably the case. Don't have a detector myself yet, but probably should with the crazy state troopers here in MI. |

I'll throw in my 2 cents on the whole topic here. Same as Tcoat I'm here in Ontario where all the highways are 100KPH and most roads are 60KPH. Driving the FRS on the road, there's plenty of power there and usually I've hit the speed limit in the city by the end of 2nd gear. So usually I don't waste my time speeding, since it doesn't really save that much time (only saved 20-30 mins on a 4 hour drive from Toronto to Ottawa) and just have fun with some good off the line acceleration. Especially on-ramps. Same thing really goes for the highway, I just set the cruise control at 114KPH where cops won't bother me and just have fun getting onto and off of the road.
![]() That said, I feel like after taking this car to local road courses and autocross events, my thirst for speed and hard driving is satisfied sufficiently. Setup properly, I've seen an FRS beating most other cars at Calabogie (Ottawa) just because they carry so much corner speed; with nothing more than ~235HP from E85 and a tune for power. So underpowered at a track? Sure why not, but the feeling that you're slow is subjective on where and how's it's driven. TLDR: Plenty of power for public roads. Speeding not worth the time saved, just enjoy the acceleration. Go to a track or course and have fun with no limits there. Fun being the operative, who cares about more power till you need it?

I do love Virginia though, great place to visit! Ohio is another bad one that I despise driving through.

Better paying job is not always a better job. Safer to find that happy medium of good job with enough pay. Bigger house seems really big when all the kids are gone. Small house is great for two but too small for visits. Need to find that one just in the middle. Cars go from wanting faster and more powerful to just interesting (that could of course still include faster and more powerful) Not ready for that Buick Century just yet.

Yup, and that is exactly what happened. He had to disassemble the dash on the side of the 401, remove the unit, hand it over to the cop, AND pay a fine. And I thought my Canadian family could get crazy...... |

The fun part is that on the major (400 series) highways they are actually very lenient on speeders. Official limit is 100KPH but if you do that in most areas that I drive you are doomed to be rear ended. The norm is more like 120 and they will often turn a blind eye to 130. As long as you are not weaving in and out of the lanes or otherwise driving like a fool they probably won't even glance at you. Just don't do 150 or more since then they will take your car for "stunt driving".
