it's my daily driver/only car - why wouldn't i buy something that i like? it's perfectly practical for what i use it for. coming from the Z, the BRZ was the closest thing to it that fit my bill. you don't have to get away on the weekend or go to the track to enjoy driving the BRZ. i enjoy it all the way to and from work every single day i've had it. i also drive the canyons - the BRZ has replaced my motorcycle for that purpose. after 6 motorcycle accidents, i think my wife is happier with that as well.

This^^^^^^
I don't get why people think you have to track or race to enjoy these cars. Mine gets DDed like it was a Corolla but I didn't want a Corolla I wanted this. It is a street car that can be used on the track not a race car that is ok on the street.

NO! We have to much time invested in you for you to regress (even if my commitment has only been long distance).
Ultra, next time you see Steve give him a slap in the back of the head. Or a hug whichever seems appropriate at the time.

No, that's totally understandable. He just made it sound like he drives to work back and forth and that's about it. I don't understand how you can own a car like this and NOT put a shit ton of miles on it, lol.

Agreed with all that. Over time it all averages out with either, but any one tank may have small variances, but probably less than 1MPG in the end.

A story about fuel pumps though. They are very accurate, but they also can be manipulated, particularly if computer controlled. A few years back a lot of stations were caught playing to the measurements. The pumps were tested at specific intervals (say 5 gallons and 10 gallons). The software would be manipulated to run faster between say one and three gallons (pump less fuel than the gauges showed) then speed up and catch up by the 5 gallon mark.

This article is outside the US, but basically explains it.

Ultra may kill or leave me with a severe concussion if he slapped my head...

Then again, a hug from him was nearly bone crushing.

In my case, it's basically about opportunity and priorities to drive for pleasure outside of the daily commute. until the end of last year (when i totaled my last bike), if i wanted to go into the canyons, i'd pick my motorcycle more often than not over the BRZ, because that was my only reason for owning bikes: canyon carving; and it'd be a waste not to ride them.

also, with an 8-yr old son, we're usually doing other stuff on the weekends so there's not that much opportunity either. but, i do seize the opportunity to drive the curves when i can.

trust me - i LOVE riding and driving in the canyons. before my son was born i was riding the canyons weekly and do track days on the bike. but, my priorities changed after he was born and he became my favourite hobby. hence, the low mileage on my car.

I get 26/27 mpg on highway cruising 80+, add in a lot of 90+ and you see why its around there. If you drive like grandma 70 mph you can expect 30+

Had the car for two months I have 4.5k miles, I love driving it lol. I drove 5 hours yesterday, 3 hour to a place, 1hour to a meet, then an hour home. I get 22.3mpg, thought it'd be higher but I love shifting around the 4k in city lol.
