this car is way to over decorated...it reminds me of when you see a honda accord with a big wing, reflectors, fake fender vents, stickers, hubcaps, fur dash cover, fake leather steering wheel wrap, and 6 tail pipes, but only one of them actually functions. They need to get rid of the lame ass wing, the fender "vents" the stupid scoops on the back of the rear quarter panels to start....then maybe we'll have something decent to look at.

the first concept was FAR better looking....I hate the RX8 fender "bump/bulges"....they seem out of place and the the profile looks like a baseball cap with a sleek front end and a bulbous canopy....I'll have to see more of it to see what they were thinking with this car...

You missed my edit above your post, but I have a different opinion on the RX8....lol. I just hope the 86 has more going for it than the RX8. I am not much of a low torque-high reving guy.
I love high revving fd might have v8s but how many have v8s in d1?
The whole world isn't America
And another thing is, yes the rx8 is slightly slowest than a mps3 in a straight line, but since it's not actually a drag car who really cares? It whoops it by seconds around tracks with a same driver. And that's stock, add a supercharger/turbo so both are same aspirated.. Well that's a different story

If this thing revs to let's say 8500 you cat compare it to a car that revs to let's say 6.. Yet they will both have top speed of around 100km/h in 2nd..
And mate this isn't a 350 big block revving to 5000 redline throug a 4speed top loader 6 speed gearbox and a high redline = awesome fun (again il compare a rotary to this, iv never had problems accelerating.)

The car is awesome...and if it does not have a turbo...so be it... but if it is only 200HP NA...then it will sell no more than low to mid 20K price. Which is a good deal.

If Hyundai can release a Genesis turbo from the low to mid 20K range...then Toyota\Scion can do the same (With a 2.0 liter boxer turbo version) but maybe close to the 30K range.

If nissan can sell the base 370Z for less than $30K...then Toyota\Scion can sell a loaded FT86 for around that price too..

Oh I just read the rest of these comments. Sounds like there are some members here that really want a v6 or a v8.. This is the wrong car for you m8 sorry
Also my daily is a rx8 (obviously) and I have absolutely no problems passing anyone or going up hills. Hell I even beat v8s of the line, but that's cus I'm a awesome driver :p

I'm a little disappointed by the rear end.

I really liked how the original concept had a little bit of notchback in the trunk, made it seem slimmer / lighter. I also hope there's a proper trunk and not a hatchback for security reasons, but we'll see.

Its a crying shame if Toyota releases this as a Scion in the States...... if anything the Toyota brand needs a boost.... Scion needs another car, like a newer more slick tC in the cards....not a FT-86.

I think this is a right move from Toyota that they finally made a sporty looking car that is for everyone. Unlike some super cars that you can only see them in pictures or be jealous when you see one on the street. And this FT-86 concept II looks very aggressive, wish the production version looks close to this one.

*cough*
Sorry, excuse me?
"Sporty Looking"? Assuming Toyota / Subaru do what they set out to do this car will not just be "Sporty Looking" and it will most definitely NOT be for everyone.

But thats assuming Toyota / Subaru do what they say they are going to do.

If not, you win

Sort of -- thinking about it many people who are looking for a nice looking daily driver shouldn't look at the FT (imo) Unless they want a RWD daily driver of awesomeness, then come all!

I think they added too much mass to the front and rear. The low belt line is good, but the high ass fender flares on either end goof it up. They could easily lose a bit of the chub and have something sleek.

My rough chop:

sure, a 2.0L turbo with what, 210hp?? my MR2 made that 20 YEARS AGO. i fail to see how Hyundai has done anything worthwhile with that engine.
