I bought my Miata from Long Beach, CA and drove it back. There's no way I want to work on a project car that's lived in road salt. When I changed the exhaust on the 240, the nuts were still hex shaped, the studs still had thread on the exposed segments and the nuts came off with simple hand tools in entirely re-usable condition. I had never seen that before. It was nice. In VT I actually did see deer licking the street. -Justin |

But I have a surprise for you! Can't prove it (didn't take 100 pics a day back then) but for one whole week back in 77 I actually owned a Superbird. It was beat to shit, broken spoiler, smashed bumper and rotted out but I owned the sonofabitch. Bought it for $1200 sold it a week later for $2,000 and now kick myself every single freakn' time I see one. The pic cold be it for all I know.

When I came back I bought my 70 coronet R/T as a more "practical" alternative. Traded it for a van when I got married and then watched that one shoot up in value as well.

![]() I don't think it will. It just happened to be in the same article. Car manufacturers do some stupid shit from time to time, but im pretty sure Toyota and Subaru fully realize what the point of the 86 is. I see this quote on a bunch of motoring.au or rumor based sites. I don't see how it really applies here. Why not talk about something to come? |

[quote=Tcoat;2441123]Well the one time I took it out on the street it scared the crap outta me. It needed way too much work and I was being deployed to Germany so it made no sense to keep it and haul it from base to base even when I came back so I sold it off to the first buyer with cash. Then I have watched them go higher and higher in value ever since.
When I came back I bought my 70 coronet R/T as a more "practical" alternative. Traded it for a van when I got married and then watched that one shoot up in value as well. I am constantly reminded by these situations. You won't believe the amount of times my dad has told me the story of how he had the chance to buy a Ferrari 246 Dino back in Hong Kong. |

[QUOTE=raven1231;2440599]Yep...Supra, rx7, 300zx, wrx, mustang, corvette, lotus, etc...
300zx? I'm old enough to have lusted over the original 240z. Now that car was a game changer. Small, light, nimble--at a time when muscle cars ruled the US market. Even the 260z in 1974 was way smaller than the original 300zx from 1990. The 300zx really got porky and over priced before they came back with the 350Z in the early 2000's. |

the original 300zx came out in 1984. Best friend's mom got one, what a turd. It was the 80s though, and people bought K cars. So it seemed sporty then.

I guess I'm an outlier, but I never thought 3200-3300lbs was a "porker" or "boat", as most people seem to refer to it as....3600-3800 sure that's getting heavy but 3200-3300 is still plenty light. Not to mention provides amenities that make for a great DD, and not just a track or toy car.

Mk3 Supra is the only one I have owned and the only one I plan to buy in the future. Mk4 has too big of a premium attached to it, much like the 3000GT VR-4 Spyder, that prices me out, even if I can afford it, it doesn't make sense when I could buy a newer M3 with the same money.
