Phone Mounts

In case anyone was wondering, the proclip mount fits with the JPM Coachworks dash as well. I was even able to run my Lightning usb cable between the dash and kneepad pieces to plug into the 12 volt power behind the glove compartment for a cleaner look. I did not have to use the adhesive on the proclip mount and it still seems pretty sturdy.

It's basically a strong magnet that DOES NOT mess up your internal components because it uses the special type of rare metal that you see on the back of my phone. It's very minimal on the phone and in the car. Holds very strong. Allows for full use of all buttons. The metal piece can be stuck easily in a case. I've seen people stick it inside their Galaxy S4 and S5 after removing the back battery door cover. It's very thin.

I just bought this. Best phone holder i have ever bought. It even holds my iphone 6 plus without any problems upright or sideways. THANKS!!!

I got four of thee synack units one for the BRZ, one for my truck and one or a Porsche boxster, and one for the mini van. I have been using them for about six months and have not had a problem with falling or shifting even when using the touch screen. One of my concerns was if the plate would interfere with the NFC, it still works perfectly.

I'm actually about to put one on the wall beside my bed, and maybe one on my desk at work lol

I went with the Scosche Magic Mount also, but I decided to fabricate a mount for the mount. Big thanks to @extrashaky for identifying a tool for bending metal. Made all the difference in the world, and has open the door to other ideas.

I began with a sheet of heavy paper that I cut into strips to get the basic shape. Then using scrap aluminum and tin snips I cut the shape. Last, I used the Harbor Freight Seamer to bend the aluminum, and a drill to make the hole.

I used a couple small pieces of 3M mounting tape to prevent the mount from bouncing around. Perfect!

Painted my homemade mount. I used the lower right corner head unit screw as the anchor point.

The rubber pad and strong magnets grip really well. I'm using the larger steel plate included with the Scosche mount. The plate is between the layers of my phone case. I did not bother to use the mounting adhesive.

I'm very pleased with this mount. It's really inconspicuous. The Scosche magnetic mount and mounting plate hold my iPhone securely.

I have yet to see a commercial bracket that's as good as what I have. Sometimes if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.
@extrashaky where did you buy the 18ga aluminum sheet? Did you have to cut it to size?

Still loving my Mountek after 3 years. It's not like I have any other use of the CD drive.

I picked up a sheet at Home Depot and bought some inexpensive tin snips while I was there. It's easy to cut. I smoothed off the edges with my Dremel.

I love mine as well but I'm looking for something new after I installed my backup camera and that mount's screw blocks a good 1/3 of the screen.

Here's the one I use:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PGJWYJ0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailp age_o00_s00"]Amazon.com: Car Mount, WizGear™ Universal Air Vent Magnetic Car Mount Holder, for Cell Phones and Mini Tablets with Fast Swift-SnapTM Technology, Magnetic Cell Phone Mount: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]

It's a magnet mount but it's nice and compact. In the attached picture I took one picture of just the magnet, and one of my phone case (the black rectangle is a stick-on magnet you can put either on your phone / phone case).

Never had any issues with the phone dropping, the only "issue" with this particular magnet is that it doesn't fit well in the center vents and putting the phone horizontally when it's in the corner vent is a bit awkward...

I've gotten used to having the phone vertical in the corner though and prefer it now...

funny you mentioned that vent mount. I got one last week and it scratched up my vent pretty badly. It's the Aukey one too. Left a negative review on amazon.

Hmm damn, haven't noticed any scratches on mine but I'm going to double check now... A few other family members also use this one and have never mentioned any scratches so I want to say this one is a-okay.
