OK, I take back my first thoughts since you now plan on the autocross course.
Go rent or borrow a car that both of you drive because it wont have anything to do with the car. Autocross is all about the driver. I know people that can beat the FRS in a Prius because they know what they are doing on course. Better yet, go work on your self esteem cause the whole thing reeks of grade 9. |

Just whip out your ****s and compare size. Then forget about racing cars if you don't have experience because there are many variables beyond which car is more capable.

Not to suggest that I condone any form of racing on public roads (because I don't), but the OP was asking how the cars compare. According to www.zeroto60times.com a 2013 FRS has a full 1 second advantage in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile times over a 2003 TT Quattro. It also pulls higher g's in skid pad tests. All other things being equal your twin should be the winner.
As others have already said, driver's skill can make up for what a car lacks in performance. If this is really just for fun than make it just for fun and drop the $500 bet. Get yourselves to an auto-x or HPDE. Put the money into a car payment. |

I have a BRZ and a 2002 TT, in the end it will come down to driving skill and who knows their car better.

Right. He's only 18 so by definition is considered subprime having little to no debt repayment history. At that age, building a strong credit rating should be his focus since it affects many other aspects of life for years to come.
Of course someone else could have bought him the car or are making the payments so creditworthiness might not matter to him. Realistically though, this all sounds like a cynic twice his age having sadistic fun yanking the chain of an excitable boy. Unless I have all of this backwards and he's yanking ours.
