Me neither. The stereotypes are funny. I have two friends with Miata's. Both guys. They bought them for being convertibles, for being cute, not for the sportiness.

And I once had a guy friend who bought a gorgeous S2000. You'd figure guy + S2000 = enthusiast? I asked him what he thought of the VTEC, and he asked, "What's VTEC?" I explained, and he said, "Oh... well I never rev it that high." Sigh.

And yet my best (girl) friend can tell you the exact year of any (older, carbureter) Camaro, just by catching a glimpse of a corner or something. She talks about blocks and shifters and... I have no idea what she's talking about, lol.

Most people on forums assume I'm a guy because I know a LOT about my RX-8. But I've never worked on it beyond routine stuff. I just like to be a very informed consumer, so I read everything I can about it so I don't get tricked by mechanics when something goes wrong. Besides, I bought my RX-8 (and would consider the BRZ) because I enjoy driving cars, not working on them. I love the feeling of dancing, the motion, the oneness with the road. The threads about "pulling on someone" or stoplight racing mean nothing to me. But let me dance with a great car along a winding road, no one else in sight... it's just heaven

So yea, stereotypes can be silly

I'm right there with you, R8! I'm getting the BRZ so I can retire my old clunker sports cars and spend more time driving; less time wrenching. People think I actually enjoy wrenching, but that's definitely not the case. I like driving!

Oh why not? I just copied from the site lol here's the photo... I mean they aren't perfect shades because I did it somewhat fast.

That's awesome that you know how to work on cars. I probably would enjoy it, but have never been around someone to show me. I can, however, get very dirty working on my house. I can also put together IKEA furniture without swearing. I'm an engineer, but I have social skills, so that really throws people off.

Somehow I have always dated a mechanic so I've always been around the right people to teach me things when it comes to cars.

I'd probably fail at the Ikea part with NOT cursing...lol.

I don't really plan to take it on the track or anything, just drive to work, events, other places and have fun living my life (while looking good in my new FR-S).

traded in my precious Boxster whilst 6-7 people were trying to buy my fr-s, I beat them all to the 'desk' and signed the day before official release heyoo?
