you all want a DRL switch, like this:
use a burned out fuse and drop a micro toggle switch and wala, DRL on off switch!

thats the thing DRL's only stood out when it was new tech and not on every vehicle. when i got my first chevy people would flash me all the time to remind me hey you left your lights on. now that never happens.

It's not a mod, it's an actual DRL Delete. It permanently gets rid of the DRL on a FR-S. It will keep the high beams working of course.

Taking it to the dealer to turn them off, is just that: Turning them off.
This is for people that want to completely get rid of the DRL.

I know this is a slightly older post, but one of my friends is a tech at toyota and turned off the DRL option through the ecu. I just noticed last night however that when I flip on my brights, all I get is the DRL yellow light, not the bright light I need. I will be asking him when he's back in town, but has anyone else had this issue?

@Ishii Motors, I know this is a DRL delete DIY, but is there any particular reason why you went the extra step and actually removed the resistor, rather than disconnecting, taping up both ends and zip-tying them out of the way? If you ever needed to re-enable them, wouldn't it be easier?

I didn't read the whole post but I did the fuse thing first and you lose high beams or I did. so the other day I was at work and wanted to see what I could change in the computer so I through the TIS on and there is an option to turn off the DRL option. So just go to your dealership and ask them to do it most will do it for free

Note to anyone looking to perform the DRL delete.

You can see in the pics on the first post a small rectangular vented panel just next to the area of plastic this thread says to remove. If you pull gently this panel will just pop off. Depending on the size of your arm you can just put your hand in there, the drl resistor plug is immediately above the panel.

You can carefully unplug the resistor, wrap the wire around the harness and tuck the end against the frame. This took me about 1 minute, required no tools or supplies, and was totally effective.

If you look on the back of that access panel there is a nice Subaru logo (on my NA FRS).

Thanks Subaru!

Yes you have to get the ecu replaced from the dealer for free to correct this

thanks for the DIY. took about 20min (those plastic screws mainly) to do and was pretty straight forward. i had originally went to the dealership to have them turned off and ended up with the no hi beam issue. i know that the new ECU would fix this but i really don't want to make any more trips to the dealership so i just had them put the DRLs back on, came home and did the delete from this thread. it's reversible for the most part and doesn't require a trip to the dealership if i ever want them back.
