no updates yet, got sidetracked with life. OTOH I paid off my credit card and stuff and just got a raise and maxed out on my 401(k) contributions for the year so I'm in a lot better shape to get working on this again

I'm ready to give up on the shop that was supposed to take my car for prototype work ever getting around to it and say fuck it and pull the engine/trans, sell that stuff and get working on getting the JZ mounted.

today I'm trying to figure out where I can get aftermarket LCA's from. I think parts shop MAX makes some, but I need to call to confirm and tell them I don't need the rest of their dumb angle kit, just the arms. if they don't make that stuff anymore, I know Xcessive does, but if I'm spending that kind of money I'd rather not look at a big ole rod end loaded in bending every time I take a front wheel off.

also in terms of hoarding parts... I got these for this.

SSR viennas. 18x8,18x9, probably going to move the rear barrels and lips (they're welded) to the front and relip/barrel the rears to 19x10.5 or something. or wider, idk, not sure if I want to go rocket bunny straight off or not. I feel like huge fenders and wheels and 265 tires with 300whp would be icky, and if I go big single straight off the bat that's a whole other project.

Buddy Club and RacerX make them. Although from the description of Buddy Club, they basically take an OEM arm, powder coat it white, and replace the bushings and a roll center correction ball joint. RacerX is tubular, with options for bushings or rod ends and an OEM or roll center correction ball joint.

@gramicci101 I'm going to go with arms from PSM or XM, because I know both of those shops can replace the FT86 tapered balljoint shanks with ones with a nissan S14 taper, because both of those companies also make arms for nissans. I'm going to be running s14 knuckles for 5x114.3 hubs and better geometry.

edit: before someone jumps on me for saying "better", just pretend I said "different" geometry

just ordered motor mounts... Rich @ xcessive is SUPER nice to talk to and always has good info, and I guess now the 1jz vvti is an off-the-shelf mount, I should have mine before the end of the week. awesome.

PBM got back to me late last night, I guess they're coming out with their front arm kit in January, and they plan on making the 240sx knuckles conversion an option for it, because it's such a popular mod. LOL.

XM mounts showed up, they seem totally bombproof and cost $300. A++

I also just ordered a spare rear upright and a lexus bolt-in wheel bearing, I'm going to see if I can't figure out a way to get them to bolt in, if I can that'll let me run manly toyota axles instead of these piece of shit subaru chopsticks.

here's the back of a stock upright I ordered

and the lexus hub I'm using

a buddy already took some pics of slightly different lexus hubs and axles vs stock subaru:

the lexus hubs have the same diameter slip fit into the upright, but a different bolt pattern. the plan is to machine the upright for the new bolt pattern so I can use those hubs, then I'll be able to use toyota/lexus companion flanges in the stock rear diff and stronger, beefier toyota axles.

Maybe we can get a group buy for the Visconti!
But then there would be so many 2jzs out there they would be normal.
