Wider wheels with the same size tires will give you better response but will break away less progressively because it changes the profile of the tire. They also give more room for bigger fixed brake calipers.

It's an underpanel for aerodynamics. The other side was probably only taken off for measurement purposes. I wonder if the Scion will actually include this stock or if it will be a part of an aero/spoiler option.

why stagger tires then? Doesn't creating understeer go against any form of racing, spirited driving, auto cross, drifting? I thought the goal is to have a little bit of oversteer.

Well im not new into cars so much just new into rwd, autocross/drift. Never done either but I want to get this car because i love my rsx s but always wanted a fun rwd car since my dad has always told me his favorites are rwd and they are more fun by the looks of it.

Also i never cared for rim width and tires and stuff. That's all new to me.

All i cared about was tires and rims being in normal proportions to what most people used with my car. i.e 17inch 7.5-8inch width rims.

For racing you balance the lap time increase by the increased understeer by the laptime decrease of extra traction. If the understeer is costing more time than the traction then you reduce the stagger.

Most road cars have narrower than optimum tyres (atleast for dry grip), it will be very rare than going narrower will gain you traction. Narrow tyres for traction on road cars only really applies in snow/wet.

Oh okay thanks for providing the picture, it appears they just took the other side's panel off.

I don't think it's going to be standard on Scions, seeing how the BRZs don't come with it standard. It's likely a ripoff option package :/ Whatever, foam board works too.

I own a 2005 v6 Mustang convertible. Its my wife's daily driver. I enjoy driving it but at 200hp it is underpowered in my opinion. Also I feel very disconnected from the road in it. Maybe the newer model is different but based on what I've read and now seen I can't imagine the two are comparable except in price.

As a first 86 i wrote scion asking if i woukd even fit, im a 6'5 330 lb guy with a 38 inch waist. The marketing group coordinating the long beach trip emailed me and said they would fly me down exclusively for a one day trip to scion hq in torrance so i coukd sit in car. Going on march 19. Check the last 2 pages of the "first 86 winners registry" thread. After the trip i will make a new thread with pics and details.

My dad has a 2008 v6 with pypes dual exhaust.. Best sounding mustang in town.. Its an absolute joy to drive, i wouldnt say its underpowered, but thats only because i am used to it, i havent driven anything significany faster on a regular basis.. Its fast enough.. But it is heavy and if u throw it around a corner you prepare for massive counter steer...

The new mustangs look awesome. Have much improved interior, and a 305 hp v6 with a 6 speed that gives you 24-30 mpg.. For only 24-25 out the door its too good to be true.. I love mustangs but it makes me worry about where they skimped on parts to get that price so low. When driving a toyota i never worry about anything going wrong. I used to have a 06 release series tC.. I drove the poop out of that car and never had problems

For sheer numbers for sure. But that live axle in the rear is a deal breaker for me. And don't even get me started on the handling of the genesis.

My Mustang driver sat in the new Mustang at the Atlanta Auto Show yesterday. She still prefers her '05s interior even though it is a bit cheaper looking (she likes the round air vents and shiny metal bits).

Her's is holding up pretty well at 60K miles. Only issues is the piece of crap plastic slider that covers the gap in the automatic shifter has broken. You can't just replace it, and the whole shifter is a $250 part.

Sounds like they've improved the performance a lot, which is a good thing. I've just never been a Mustang guy. I've always preferred Camaros.
