$1220/yr full coverage for my 2000 Prelude Weaky

The rep I spoke to yesterday for Wawanesa said that if I get an Impreza it'd be $1300ish, and $1600ish for WRX. Crazy how much the Lude costs, right?

Only minor rear-end tap (my fault) 2years ago. Before that, my premium was about $300 less, so around $900-1000/yr? Still, the WRX isn't much of an increase from the Lude considering the 12 year difference and brand new car status.

Crap I never even thought about the BRZ being cheaper to insure than an FR-S even though it's the same car. I just sent in a request for quote to my broker... Ugh.

Insuring the BRZ/FR-S

Hi all,
I'm knocking on 25 years old (May 17th) and I'd like to get an insurance quote but I've called a couple different insurance companies and no one has even had a BRZ in their system. Has anyone been quoted or know when we will be able to get quotes? Thanks.

I haven't called around yet, but I've checked out rates on similar vehicles (tc, gc, miata)

As my record is slightly blemished (accident last year), I get nailed with $1300 every 6 mos on the low end for most of those, Esurance was a joke with a near $300 / mo charge on a 2013 tc.

I'm 24, so if you're clean and 25, you should be a good bit lower. $150 lowest? all the way to $225 possibly.

While not exact, hopefully a ballpark will help brace you for what is to come financially. :happy0180:

Not sure tc is a good comparison. rwd might be something that changes the rates.

I'm knocking on twice your age + some with a clean record but two teenage boys at home. Based on "similar types" since the car is not in their system yet I've been quoted by USAA at about $900 a year full coverage +/- 10% once they get a VIN.

The perks of age. I hate to know how long I'll be waiting to get a decent rate that isn't retarded.

Insurance is certainly one of those things that I have a hate for, but it's simply due to poor choices and impatience.

The tC might be higher priced with insurance than the BRZ - depending on the demographic of the owners of the BRZ.

The things that matter most for insurance cost are the following:

Likelihood of the driver getting into an accident
Cost to repair
demographic of buyers of said vehicle

The S2000 might be the nearest comparable car, but it probably has a higher theft/vandalism rate than the BRZ will have (due to parts being stolen, etc). The Miata actually has pretty cheap insurance because most of the people who own them are older folks (young people don't want a low-hp 'girly' car).

For what it's worth, I saw no improvement on my insurance at 25, even though my record was spotless and I owned a house by then. I don't know if it actually matters anymore.

Spoke with my State Farm agent today. BRZ is not in their system yet but agent was able to give me a quote based on MSRP.

I was quoted $420/yr. Full coverage and $2K deductables.

Multi-car discount, pleasure use only.

Grim, you forgot to factor in the time of day and wind direction to your insurance costs.

The bright side is most of us get there eventually... Fortunately for me my insurance company doesn't see what I do when no one is looking.
