Oh sorry i was suppose to send that to the 2,403 mom's in mini-vans who were texting or talking on the phone not paying attention.

# of times i have almost or actually been hit by a mini van, SUV or Prius by people who could care less about driving and werent paying attention - > 3,000.

Every auto insurance policy has an exclusion in the fine print excluding "exhibitions of speed" sometimes they even use the words "premeditated exhibition of speed" . Either way is exactly what he was doing. whether its a burn out, a drag race in the street or a track day. If the police had seen him, that is likely what the ticket would say. If he had gotten a ticket with that written on it, the insurance company would not have paid the claim. Whatever story the insurance was told is obviously falsification and is just one more data point that will justify the insurance industry raising rates as they gather "experience" with this new model. He'll pay the price anyway in his future rates, but the only one who will win in the future is the insurance industry. The honest thing to do would have been to have it repaired himself.

For the OP's sake, he should consider himself lucky if his insurance company is not smart enough to find this thread. So much for blabbering stories. This was SECOND mistake. Lesson learned to all - No Charge.

Calm down. I doubt this guy in Oregon is going to have any influence over your insurance rates in canadia.

It's funny you say that. All the wrecks I've ever been in that were my fault involved just my vehicle(and curb, lamp post, etc.). Every wreck that wasn't my fault was as you described, people just not paying attention. I've never been hit by someone goofing off. Those people usually just wreck themselves, before they checked them self.

If insurance pays out, then it counts.

Quite a few in 23 years(legally) of driving. The ones that were my fault?...3. Once every 8 years isn't too bad. The last one I blame to Honda ditching double wishies...the '00 Si wouldn't have lost it.

Wrecking means the person WAS having fun...but they screwed up or the car let them down. What's worse than seeing a kick ass brand new 911 Turbo and seeing "the wrong type of driver" behind the wheel who is sitting inches away from the steering wheel while you know full well that car has never seen even an inch of its potential and never will? A wreck suggests otherwise.

Sounds about right - Been driving since 16 (10 years now, total), and have had one accident. It was when I was 17, and I was driving like an idiot, and slid off the road in a snow storm.

The way you had said that indicated you had many more under your belt

You're lucky! I have been driving about 11 years and I've been in 4. None were my fault luckily. You can be the safest driver around but that doesn't stop the crazies!

Most of you will not know this but when 24 year-old JAMES DEAN, a young actor, wrecked his Porsche in 1955 and killed himself will never recall that he was having 'fun". He was driving on a route that was popular for sports car drivers. Ironically, he tried to avoid a speeding 23 year old coming from the opposite direction who had crossed over the centerline. Dean had received a speeding citation earlier in the day.

True, but defensive driving doesn't help you when your T-boned while waiting at a traffic light or getting hit in a parking lot by a drunk driver. >.<
