Roll up windows
AC delete
Stereo delete
Carpeting delete

Manual only

Fixed racing seat option

And why not a 10hp bump?
Bring it on.

This I expect at or under 2500 lbs.

5 hours? Cake walk.

Its an 8 hour drive back to my family's hometown in northern Indiana. I've driven that trip several times.

14 hours to our grandparents condo in southern florida, done that trip several times as well.

Trips like those Cruise Control realllly becomes an awesome luxary. Not like its ever worked on my AE86 since I've owned it, but the few times I took the Supra down there, I definitely used it.

If they make a lighter track version I will buy that instead of the new 5.0 Mustang

as much as I am sold on the features on the track version, I hope they have a "fully loaded" version, for people who are going to be DDing their car. I will need cruise control, power windows, and air conditioning lol.

There's always a better chance of a fully loaded model than a track model.

Track models are somewhat new in the market place (true track models imo). 'Fully loaded' has been around for ages and honestly, its a staple of car sales. No way they won't offer it. Fully loaded will sell twice / three times more than the competition version.

ZOMG!!!11! Cruise control is for teh pansies!!!1

Come on now...
(although yes, I can understand why they would consider taking it off a track model... but really, how much weight is added due to a cruise control module?)

Yeah, but at least this community will grow. And I will be grabbing the fully loaded model with CC!! I guess I'm a pansy but my FT will remain the Queen of my Garage so I guess it's ok.

i'm going to guess *maybe* 1/2 lb. maybe. all they need is the switchgear. electronic throttles are wonderful for that sort of thing.

i like that the track model is CHEAPER than other models, that's its biggest selling point for me (and the brakes/suspension). if i could add a couple options to the track model, that would be perfect.

track model + a/c + cruise + cd =

Why would you bastardize a track model with those elements?

I mean... fair enough, like I said before, you could have a model without carpeting or a sunroof and add beefed up brakes and suspension and make the ac/radio/etc etc a "delete" option... but why not just offer the delete option on the standard model? It'd amount to pretty much the same thing.

oh, right, i knew i forgot some info! haha

the FT is going to serve as my daily driver. Nebraska summers are hot and HUMID. i also take numerous road trips back and forth from Omaha to SoCal. between 21 and 30 hours driving time, depending on which route.

oh, and i like music.

-Mike

EDIT: were it not for them saying the track model would be considerably cheaper, i would not be (as) interested.

I don't think a track model would be considerably cheaper than a base model (which probably would already come standard with all those things).
Fact is, they could offer a standard model with delete options and have the same results and not have to sell you it any cheaper.

My idea of a track model FT is one without interior carpeting, ac delete, radio delete, cc delete. No sunroof. No CC. Manual only. Roll up windows. Maybe even steelies.

I think the standard model will come with the Advics brakes, so mechanically the only difference might be uprated springs and MAYBE a slight hp bump. So why not just get a standard model and let club racers worry about the track spec car, as it'd be ready for a roll cage, pay no extra for unused factory alloys etc.

this is what i'm going off of:

Quote:
While the showroom version of the FT-86 is expected to cost over $27,000 in full spec (that's a touch over L16K, but expect that price to be considerably higher for UK cars), one source close to Toyota told us that a special low-frills competition version will sell for less than $22,000 and be specially set up for racing with stiffer suspension and beefier brakes. The same model will be used for drifting competitions.
either way, the one i will buy is going to have at least a few amenities. i'll see what's offered at different prices, and go from there. i can deal a lot better with a stiff suspension than i can with no a/c, ha. and since i still plan on autoxing with the FT and running some track days, i'd like the sportier bits. i just don't need a full-on race car is all.
