I love my S2000 dearly, but I suspect a BRZ will replace it sometime in the distant future. Looks like a great track car in the making, just needs time for the aftermarket to develop and used cars to sell cheap.

Been lurking here for a while. I too am on the fence about whether to sell my AP1 S2k for this car.

^Nice cars you have there. You can't sell any of them. S2000 is the last NA I4, the first mass production car to have 125PS/l. The Z4 M is the last NA I6 engine, one of the best engine BMW ever built, heavy because cast iron, but if it were a magnesium block like the S65, it would be epic.

DD'd an S2000 AP1 for 3yrs. Dumped it because it was just simply 2" too narrow for me (i'm 5'11" 210lbs). I switched over to an NSX and DD'ing my Tacoma temporarily.

Hard to compare a car that isn't out yet but I must say the AP1 F20 engine was gutless down low but a banshee higher up. The 6spd is sublime. It sounds like the BRZ will be more street friendly but hard to tell from these reviews...

I'm looking to pick up a BRZ/FR-S in Auto if the auto is as good as they say it is. Crossing my fingers. Still not sure on which one. It will depend on the trim levels and price points.

Again, a huge factor is the fact that the S2000 only has 2 seats. Not that it may be the determining factor for someone to buy or not buy the car, but you can legally squeeze 4 people into the FR-S/BRZ.

Just curious, what do you S2000 guys do on track days? Can you put an extra set of wheels in the trunk? (Not trying to be sarcastic or funny, I'm considering an S2000, just wondering if you can seriously fit them in there)

It's nice to be able to haul a set of track wheels but you can be plenty fast with say a set of Dunlop Star Specs installed as your daily driver set.

When I had my S2k the thought of hauling track wheels was not even an option. With tools, etc.. there's no way to fit it all.

You cannot fit more than one tire in the trunk. Here's how I fit 4 tires:

When going to the track I just mount my drift tires before I leave. Now that I have R-Comps, I'll prolly have the WRX play chase car. Here is the recomended way for those with only one vehicle:

In case you didn't notice, you can get everything for the S2K. Seeing old threads on stuff for cheap that I missed out on makes me sad: http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/5212...tail-for-sale/

That's pretty cool, seems like a lot of trouble though.

There's always the option of going on the daily driver sets that you have, but I was just curious.

Does the S2000 come with a spare?

The s2k does come with a compact spare.

One of the big selling points of the FRS is the ability to carry extra wheels/tires to the track. I have had to drive 150+ miles home in pouring rain on bald R comps in my s2k and it wasn't fun at all...

Off topic, but I'll have an Ariel Atom some day with a tow hitch on the nose cone, hitched too my Subaru.

It seems as though that the S2000 will be the higher performance vehicle (obviously). But by only having 2 seats, and the inability to carry around a second set of tires, and the rather low mpg (to me) separates the two cars due to practicability and every day drive-ability. I guess my point is that the two cars are very different, but they are in fact so close in nature, that I wouldn't want to own both of them. I think that the FR-S/BRZ will be the better car for me, but I do admire the S2000, it's an amazing little car.

I keep trying to come up with enough reasons to go out and get one... but with the FR-S/BRZ just around the corner I'm trying to hold off.

Give up the S2000 for a BRZ? NO?

Give up the S2000 for a BRZ STI? YES!
