@ JIB - Sorry to hear of your pain. You must hassle your dealer & /or TMCA Tech Div nicely to have this fixed. And keep hassling until it's done for good !

I'm going to be so angry if my car gets an idle problem.. I might just trade it in for an audi

(to clarify i was thinking of a used S3 sportback)

but that is a silly plan and the 86 ticks all my boxes

Why?? Sure it's not ideal, but the problem will be fixed under warranty.... Do you really think an Audi will have less issues?? LOL HAHAHAHA

maybe you should make a 86 vs audi R8 thread since a used one can be had for 25k and its pretty similar cars.

Mate, a used A4 is worth $25k here. We live in Australia, land of the overpriced car.

The 86 GTS (JDM GT spec) is the same price as Japan and it's a -fucking bargain- at $36k AUD.

A 2008 BMW M3 is $90k worth. Welcome to Australia, be sure to lubricate before you pass through security.

(EDIT; Come to think of it the Cadillac CTS (not CTS-V, just CTS) was $80k for the brief period it was on sale here, and the G8 GXP (IE; Commodore SS) is still for sale if you can part with $65k)

R8 for $25k?!?!?!? WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU WANT AN FRS/BRZ?!

EDIT: Just looked on a US carsales sorta thing, 2009 V8 R8 for $65k with 10k miles., next is 2008 at 100k with 20.5k miles.

Why is that exactly? Do they slap on a lot of taxes or something?

Worth bearing in mind you can get Caymans for not much more over there...

Not really, unless you count "the Australia tax". It's more expensive to do business here in the first place, and quite apart from that things just, well, cost more. We typically pay more for everything except a lot of new tech devices which are the same price almost everywhere. Why? Can't tell you.

We're not getting ripped off that badly on the 86, I mean we're getting GT spec for the same cost as Japan, and at least we don't pay extra for satellite navigation/infotainment, even if we miss out on a couple pads in the cab and footwell lights.

I'd rather a Cayman than an 86 aswell...
Although the maintenance costs on euro, especially Porsche's, will make it not very desirable.
