Hey guys, long time lurker! I'm happy to see this little community here in Cali!

Anyways, I'm definitely interested in the group buy. I'm from San Jose, CA so I guess I'd either fly or drive down there if I'm a part of this when this goes down. Any chance you can find out if dealer is also accepting trade ins? Thanks for all your work and efforts!

I'll ask him about trade-ins.

Hmmm I see... Well I'll toss a small refundable deposit down on my local Subaru and see when the BRZ will be out (according to front page, may?) Not too bad though I'll drive the Scion as well and see how that feels. Would they mind an online quote and prod?

Actually if you know that guy specifically, think you can give an email address around the time you are going to meet him? I can mention the name of the group and see if anything happens with that with the email when your group plans to buy? -_-; I have classes everyday and not sure if I have time off on the weekend for flying down there and having a quick discussion.

Giccin,

Thank you for organizing the group buy. I am in for a white limited BRZ. You want to make a roster for us to sign up? And, pls let me know when we're going to visit the dealer to place the deposit.

I dont see how a hatch is more convenient for this car... Its a vague statement. Convenient in what way?

I cant even think of a rwd hatch car with four seats that weighs 2600 lbs and has great weight distribution (maybe it can be the first). Theyre usually fwd or awd and are opposite of the brz statistics. Anyways keep your fingers crossed but I dont see it happening. As you stated though buy your Subaru hatch and be happy with that. My 05 wrx was fun and the hatches look like fun as well. :happy0180:
but hopefully we both get a brz sooner than later ^_^

AE86 was a hatch. and RWD with 4 seats and weighs roughly 2600lbs. ;p

I want the hatch because like I said it seems more practical. As of right now if I were to shove tires into the trunk then slide them up to the center of the car... it just sounds like a messy job.

But hey. I'd like to be optimistic for a hatch. :P

What was the reason for no hatch or Fast back? was it weight or structural integrity issues. That a Coupe and trunk was just better in those terms... I don't see to Recall because I wanted a Fast back .

Tighter body for less bodyroll and better handling I think?

>_> I'm a little sad that the limited one only has the push button start (at least, from what I can perceive based on the motor trends topic). Sigh lol. Oh well now its just figuring out if its actually worth spending another roughly 3k on the ltd versus premium. Assuming the alacantra seats are more durable and comfortable, I never really considered the tires/brakes issue. But... at the same time, I'll be using the car as a DD so are those even really necessary?

And @Giccin, actually if its during May I might be able to swing by around Memorial Day though that's probably late. Any consideration on the email aspect with the dealer?

I plan on visiting 2-3 different dealers around my area and see what they say. Should be in about 2 weeks after finals are over. I'll get all their cards and so fourth.

Alright, sounds good. I'll be taking a look at the few Subaru dealers I have around my area. I'll keep checking this thread around that time and hope for the best. Though I'd be amused if one particular dealership had at least 10 people vying for the car lol

Well, just stopped by 2 Subaru's and 2 Toyota/Scion

1st Subaru dealer: No info, but allowed me to write down my name and number. I don't even know if anyone else asked about it yet? O_o;
1st Scion dealer: went down the block and the guy was basically we have no info really. Didn't even ask for my name or number (which makes me wonder about the place)
2nd Subaru dealer: Same as Scion, and well that was that lol.
2nd Scion dealer: Knew about the FR-S and just jotted down my info. Asked me if I wanted to test drive the first one and I'm going... am I the only one here that even bothered to ask about the car x_x;

Note, I was around the Vacaville area

-___- lol I guess I have to drive that car to understand its hype. Oh well point taken. :happy0180:

Oh btw which subaru dealers were you planning on going to?
I like Irvine Subaru, Renick is okay but since theyre mainly cadillac I dont know how much info they will have on the BRZ... any others? Just stay away from South Coast please... I cant stand them mofos.

There's also still plenty of time to think this through... but let me remind you..

- Get your finances straight and ready to go.
- Make sure you got a nice DP
- Make sure your credit or the person who is co-signing for you has great credit
- What EXACTLY you want. This is because I believe I can push the dealer enough so he'll say "I'll get you want you want for your price."
- Prices will be rather reasonable. (hopefully) Or lower than sticker. Expect +$$ if you want to add-on more stuff.

Those buying when the car comes out.. I'll need a headcount then I'll push the dealer for better deals.

Those buying a year from now.. we'll have to wait and see what else Subaru throws at us before we shower them with our money.
I'm interested in doing this.
