This modification has the air entering from the colder side of the radiator.
I realize it may reduce the intake size.

I realize the air entrance isn't smooth or velocity stack shaped.
Does colder air make up for the slight reduction this little mod may offer?

Airaid made a mistake not extending the intake like the AFE, just my opinion.
I'm going to get some fiberglass and mold a scoop for this Airaid that extends into the "colder area"
So i just did this to my stock intake as well! got this idea from 2forme because the stock snorkel does look restrictive. But instead of just leaving it plain like that i took a 4inch air flex duct and zip tied it to the front on the bumper where when end is feeding into the duct and the other is positioned where the old snorkel use to be and my car registered an extra 4g/s to the maf sensor. i went from 148.7 to 151.7. Tried to take a graph but the torque app is a little weird when it comes to graphing. Today im changing the inlet tube to the new intake i made and ill take a another graph.

It would be nice to make modified version of the front have of the stock air box. One that extends all the way forward like the aFe. Man I wish I had a 3D printer.

Great review/test. I still think my Greddy makes more power than all of them. The Greddy sticker is the power maker of course.

The only reason I chose the Greddy over the Injen was do to Injen still making a metal intake. With heat soke being a problem in the long runs I prefer the plastic.

I used to to do Beta testing for Cobb Tuning and seeing the differance in AFR's and dyno numbers as the intake got hot on a turbo car I am really sold on cold air with an isolated filter.(cold air box)

perhaps youre seeing 2hp at the top, but is it costing you in the mid band?

So i put my custom intake in..Did my own little snorkel..ill try and get pictures of what i did. i made 6more g/s according to the torque app.
Stock intake with stock snorkel 146.8 g/s
Stock intake with Cut Snorkel 148.7 g/s
Stock Intake with flex airduct/cut snorkel 151.7 g/s
Custom 3inch intake with airduct/cut snorkel 158.0 g/s
All reading were done with the torque app, not sure if anybody cares lol but these are my findings and it seems that the snorkel does cause some restrictions..Not sure how accurate the torque app is but it does show more g/s when snorkel is altered just not sure how it affects the low range and mid range

I give you a P for Phallic.

PS, Vibrant has MAF housings, tubing, bell mouth velocity stacks and matching filters. Could lead to something good Free tip
