Haha I'm just scraping up the courage to do this.

The plan is to rewire them with a relay. IGN on, DRL in high/bright mode. Headlights on, DRL in low/dim mode. Got that part figured out, I just don't know what the pins are on the headlights so I'd have to sit with a multimeter and test.

I'm also trying to source a "jumper cable" that fits between the headlight and harness so I wouldn't need to cut any wires. Zero luck to date.

I'm not sure if they manufacture though? We need very specific male/female connectors.

That's the problem. I've been through almost the whole of Alibaba.com without any luck.

I'll contact the headlight manufacturer and ask if they could provide something.

I don't understand something - if the guys overseas can go in to a dealer to have it disabled, why can't we go in to have it enabled? Is it a case of "you're South African, so you have to take it up the nought by default"?

Not sure, but we've had a look and there is no dealer function anywhere to switch them on.

Overseas they were on by default and then there was a recall with an ECU replacement to enable the dealers to switch them off.

Open the fuse box on the right hand side of the engine bay and plug in a relay on the emptly slot for the DRL. You can test it out by unplugging the horn relay and plugging it into the DRL slot. Start thr car, release the handbrake and the DRL should activate. This was done to my Philippine spec car, I hope it works for you SA guys. Enjoy!
@HRTROB I can't remember if I've asked before - before adding the relay, did your LED lights work with the headlights switched on?

Yup they worked before adding the relay. They would light up in parking lights mode and when you switch on the headlights.

Have you guys tried hooking up techstream to your cars? There might be an option there to activate it.
