Nice work on the airbag. It helps the look significantly if the GT86 look is what you are going for.

If you want to rebuild a car to specs from another part of the world there will be no cheap route unless the car is already plentiful in the junkyards all over the world.

Enjoy it and don't let the negativity from people affect that. It is your money and your car so mod to your desire and happiness and within your budget.

My point is that changing all the emblems to Toyota but not doing the conversion all the way is half-assed and doesn't look as good. If you don't like it don't do it. I did it, and I'm damn happy about it.
You missed the point altogether. You complain about Scion emblems on superficial items but say nothing about Subaru emblems elsewhere on the car.. If you were going "full assed" you'd be scraping off Subaru badges as well. It's the car that's important not the fact that Toyota chose to put a Scion badge on it. If I were looking at a used FRS and saw the replaced airbag I would walk.

I agree about changing the badges. I personally wouldnt, but he wants his car to be like the Europe Toyota FT 86, which also has the Subaru stuff on it because of the joint venture. He just wants his car "pureblood" I think, which is part Toyota and part Subaru.

I wouldnt change the badges..id just leave them as Scion, but I do wonder if Scion actually had anything to do with the engineering at all. Its technically 100% Toyobaru..so I can understand why some owners want to re badge it Toyota.

Well I'm not selling it and obviously not to you either. Geez man. Your arguments are so pointless. Give it a rest already.

I want my car to look like every other one in the world looks (besides the US and Canada). I don't like the pseudo-brand known as Scion, I don't like their marketing strategy or their following. Most enthusiasts would agree that this car should've came as a Toyota and I am returning mine to what it should've been. If you don't, that's you. Don't really give a crap.

I made this thread so people who want to do this mod can see that it can be done and won't get discouraged (like I almost did) when they see that the charges for the airbags are different. I was not going to do this swap if it was going to compromise the functionality of my airbag and I'm certain, with the way I did it, that my airbag is fully functional in the event of an accident. Which of course I hope never happens.

If you don't like it, that's your opinion. Share how you would've done it better (doubt that). However, if you want to hate on what I did to MY car, Fuck off. Thanks!

That's great! Good job on the swap and figuring out how to deal with the differences between the two spec airbags.

You're obviously getting a few too many people saying it's not worth it but some of these same people spend thousands of dollars on new wheels with (potentially) no performance gains. Just do what makes you happy to your car, everything doesn't have to have a financially explained reason to it.

lmao @ all the Hate........looks good man and unique. I'm not sure if you're the first Stateside to do this, but I'm sure you're one of the pioneers and people will look to this thread for reference. If some of you knew how much VW Golf owners spend to convert their steering wheel over to a GTI style one, you'd shit yourselves........hhhooooooaaaaahhh

I don't think it's necessarily jealousy here. More like astonishment at the amount of money being thrown around to replace such petty and insignificant things...In the great, grand scheme of things, spending 800 dollars for an emblem on an airbag of a car you won't have 5 or 6 years from now just seems silly...and all you guys professing that you'll never get rid of your car?...yeah...you probably will...once the next holy grail of all cars evar made catches your eye...not hating, just trying to explain some of the feedback you rebadging guys are getting from the curmudgeons...but hey, if that's what you're into, then knock yourselves out...it's your money (or credit)...and I suppose there are worse ways to spend it...although nothing comes to mind right now...

I'd rather have my car have something in common with Supras, Celicas, MR2s, 2000GTs instead of Xabd's and tCs, especially with the excess of shit-looking ones I see around here(SoCal)

It's funny, from the driver's perspective you'll see a logo change on the steering wheel more than just about any other mod.

Wheels (done for aesthetic purposes), paint, body kits, etc are all not visible from the driver's seat... yet those aren't a "waste of money"...

Gambling, hookers, drugs, Internet porn(some actually pay lol), I can think of plenty of worse ways.

Yeah. Not getting rid of my car in 4-5 years. If anything, I'll pass it on to my brother in about 7-8 who will be driving age in 4-5 years. He has to earn it and learn to drive in something else first lol. And THAT my friend, I do not mind giving away (or selling to my parents) to.

On a similar note, I have an 08 FJ Cruiser that is paid off, not selling it anytime soon and a 07 GSX-R (also paid off) that I won't be selling either. So I have a tendency to keep my vehicles. If I want another car, I'll just add it to my stable. I sold my 03 RSX in 2009, beats your 4-5 year estimate lol. Only sold it because of deployment and no one would've driven it. My parents drove my truck and bike I was ok with letting it sit with fuel stabilizer.
