I never said thats the norm. He just asked to be shown one. low priced examples are easy to find.

And we end up back to the topic of regional variables. Because one car is heavily discounted in Ann Arbor Michagon does not mean the value has dropped to the same level everywhere. There is no doubt that these things are harder to sell in the more northern regions and lower prices should be expected. As pointed out the ad says that the price is well under normal market value.

Ffs, deals can be found. It's not just regional, I was playing around and found 2 cars below 10k in Florida with clean titles that looked good in the ads.

It's a used car, it depreciates. It just seems like a lot are being advertised below the corresponding blue book value.

Judging by how it was apparently posted on cargurus today, it would make sense they haven't updated their website. I know at the dealer I used to work for the proprietary website took more time to update than the third party ones.

Who knows why? Do You? Did you call them or inquire about it in some other way?

We don't know for certain whether that car isn't an absolute mess. A car dealer doesn't just post a car for $3500 less than it's worth. I suspect there's either something mechanically wrong with the car, it has some rust damage underneath from Michigan winters, or that car isn't actually for sale and is just listed there to gather contact info to try to sell people something else.

Post 'em up. I'm curious to see these.

I found one on CarGurus for less than $10K. But it had 220K miles on it. So there was a reason for the low price.

Now this sounds like a conspiracy.

I'm not going to play back and forth posting link after link.

Or common sense. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

There's a Nigerian prince waiting for your response. Better let him know you'll help him out.

I get that. With my milage, beat up paint and worn seat I would be lucky to get $7k in a private sale and $5k for trade in. I knew and accepted that when I bought the car. My only beef is the constant repetition that there are ones that are not so worn for sub $10k prices all over the place. Yes they can be had but that does not make them the norm. A quick look at Florida ones shows about 20 listed in the $15 to $16 k range. That is far more than your 2 sub $10k examples. Now they are overpriced a bit so $13 to $14k would be a more accurate number. If they are all selling for under the book value either that regional market is saturated or there is something wrong with them. This is why it pays to be prepared to go outside your market if you are able.
