I prefer the 86 body, but the BRZ lights are HOT

This thread is interesting in that it gives a nice cross section of what everyone values in this car and how we can justify additional costs.

The BRZ was just about the right spec for me as leather seats were not a deal breaker, but styling (seriously, what is with that Black plastic thing on the front bumper) as well as buying into the image meant that the 86 was always going to be my first choice and the GTS had to be my spec

This times the fact that they are at the highest point of the car = greater roll moment.

I personally would never get a sunroof in a car like this as it defeats the purpose. hat and it would impede on my (already limited) head room.

The roof has a massive gully in it.

I would make the roof out of carbon fiber. Save a bit of weight here and there.

I initially looked at a GTS but spending $40k there were better options out there for me (not new granted).

I ended up driving a GT and might buy it. At $34k it seems to offer better value, and to me drove exactly the same as the GTS. The only real difference is the brakes, and a good set of pads on the GT is going to be better than the stock GTS anyways.

I've owned both and I'm going to avoid having a car without climate control ever again. It's such a bloody nuisance in winter to crank up the heater to start with to warm the car faster then forget and swelter for the next hour, then forget again and end up cold, I'd rather a box do that for me. Prefer the look of the HIDs. However, my heated leather seats will be coming out and going into plastic wrap in the shed- I've got plans to acquire some of the AE86-color-matched seats from .jp for my beast, to save wear and tear on the originals.

EDIT; The real luxury for me is going to be opening the garage, taking off the car cover, smiling at my car, and getting in it without taking anything out of my pocket, driving it, taking it home, parking it and getting out all that same way.

Also kinda thinking Aero option pack... Will decide closer to build date.

Just upgrade the rear discs at the same time-- the calipers are the same apparently. Also Wilwood and others will be coming out with upgrade sets.

It's worth noting CAR magazine tested both the GT and GTS at Tsukuba (G and GT in Japan-- however, the G gets local "GTS" spec brakes)-- ideal circuit for smaller cars-- and found the GT to be a half second faster on average of ten laps. That's a big difference on a 1 minute track.

All 4 rotors, calipers and brake pads are different between GT and GTS. A little more fact checking please.

A quick glance on the trd website would shown the front pads are identical between the gt and the gts.
