i could see a supercharged variant, probably sans intercooler and a very mild boost (i think TRD solely goes with roots type blowers). they sell many kits for their trucks and some of their other cars i think. they did however turbo the yaris (vitz) in japan for a while; but then again they didn't have a bentobox sized engine bay that the FT seems to have, i'm still trying to see how u can possibly fit in an intercooler...i guess we'll all know once they pop the hood

While the 4ag silver/black top would be a great choice in terms of engine swap it is illegal! Unless it is a track whore don't get caught with an old engine in a new car.
It would be great to have a Formula Atlantic engine in this thing OMG. 11k rpm 4ag 240hp pretty sure its the same as in Initial D. Itb's and all.STI swaps will be very popular i think, since it will just bolt right in. Now turbo clearance etc... will/might be an issue but they seem to figure things out pretty quick in the tuner world. WRX swaps as well (the new 265 hp variant). Should be cheap at a salvage yard etc. Until we see the engine bay there is no telling what engine would fit. |

so are we guessing that the internals of this D4S will be weaker than the 265 hp WRX or the STI engine

We have a long way to go before we can make these statements, but I still suspect things won't just bolt right up. |

And judging from the ft-86 photos, the engine seems to be placed WAY back there. The hood kind of gives it away. |

STi motor in the ft86 chassis and rwd would fine by me lol. You lose less vs its normal awd setup, tons of tq for a 4 cyclinder, I can dig it.
LS1 motor is 40lbs heavier than a standard 1.8L motor out of a miata. No frame cutting, maybe some transmission tunnel grinding, and a different cross-member. Basically if you want 350+rwhp in a miata its cheaper to do an LSx swap lol. I wander what size tires you can fit under the ft86 chassis, hopefully wide as holy hell lol. |
