How many of the SBD users are pushing for mild 300+whp gains? Isn't the highest canned SBD kit their 270-290 10psi setup? As people start pushing these kits like the JDL/Ptuning/MAP/FB guys to 450 and beyond, I think you'll start to see them fail. Turbo kits in general are really simple products when you break down the pieces. I don't really follow the SBD or Greddy kit minus what I read about Gushi these days so I could be way off basis. Beyond a coupler/vac line blowing off there isn't much that will go wrong past the user installation/tuning errors.

Safe in also assuming most SBD owners went with whatever the cheapest option was?

I believe that turbo tops out around 400whp on e85 of course. Its just a 20g not very huge.

They don't offer canned tunes anymore. Not since the move from 7 psi to 10 psi.

It's priced well because we want to move volume, that's the simple answer. (And we do, almost 800 members in our Facebook Owner's Group.)

We agreed to distribute Zage's kit roughly 3 years ago and have made further improvements to enhance for the North American market. (Turbo Blanket, BOV, New Wastegate Design, 3" MAF Pipe, etc.)

Those are changes that would not have been made had we not got involved with the product. Luckily for us, Zage is eager to improve their product and has always been receptive to our suggestions.

Shiv @ OFT has the kit on his personal FT86 and has done a fantastic job developing a basemap for it.

Say what you want, but there's no better value in the FT86 market, which is why we continue to sell hundreds of turbo kits each year.

We're continuing to tweak the design and our Garrett GT(X)3076R kit is coming this Spring for the built motor crowd. (A few are currently testing in the wild!)

Stay tuned.

Lots of customers are running the kit on E85/Flex Fuel tunes making 400+ whp.

That's a judgement call Shiv made for his OFT customers, which I respect, as the margin of error declines on 91/93 octane when raising the boost.

He custom tunes hundreds of cars per year with this kit and does a GREAT job.

Correct on all points.

I think the issue is most Non-Asian Americans see Taiwan as China. Honestly, most Americans see all Asians as China, lol.

Until you can visit both countries, it's hard to appreciate the profound manufacturing differences.

Finding quality factories in Taiwan is easy, it's a bigger struggle in China. (But by no means, impossible.)

You are correct that the wide majority of Japanese Tuner brands are manufacturing in Taiwan, as they can find high quality at more reasonable manufacturing costs.

I come across manufacturer reps from these companies frequently in my travels to Taiwan, especially at the auto shows.

I see things very differently now, than I did even 5 years ago, after physically making the efforts to travel to Asia and develop relationships with key factories.

The automotive manufacturing world is much smaller than I ever dreamed.

We don't buy off Alibaba, let me clarify this.

I physically travel to Asia several times each year to meet with our current/prospective factories and look at potential products before any money changes hands.

I never partner with a manufacturer until I have physically been to the factory and seen the caliber of staff, equipment, materials, etc.

Alibaba is a good way to lose a lot of money quickly for the novice importer/re-seller.

Bullshit. Sorry, but I do recall you inviting me to join, and subsequently immediately banning me from the group.

We don't allow competitive vendors in the group. It's an OWNERS group, or open to those interested in OWNING the turbo kit.

It's not open to competitive vendors to push competitive products, nor take shots at the product to advance your own agenda.

Nothing personal, but it's a private group and is ran as such.

If you want to complain about SBD or it's business practices, voice it here. This forum is the proper place to do that.

Your complaints would fall on deaf ears from those who have made the choice to buy this kit.
