I find that photos in general don't give a good sense of the width of the tires. I was mistaken in that I thought that the photos of the other individual with the Rivals in 255/40/17 had the inside of the tire in a shadow. That isn't the case which is why I edited the previous post.

As long as it does what it is meant to, all good man. It could possibly be the tyre wall construction too, I probably jumped too fast as I know heaps of other wheels run too skinny.

Ah yes, this is the thread where I belong...you guys are really speaking my language in here

Only thing is, not too many 17's in this thread. 18's actually look really good, but I prefer smaller wheels (for a variety of reasons).

Yeah, Rivals do seem pretty skinny. I saw this BRZ at my last autocross and did a triple-take when I saw that these tires are 255/40/17 and still have plenty of clearance! Hopefully the owner of this car is on here so we can get his wheel specs...the flat face is the one I like, as opposed to the convex/thick face (shown at end of post).

Just because I was amused. Someone in here or an Enkei RPF1 thread said 18x9.5 with 255/265 rear will rub, but only for a bit as it is rubbing a plastic tab on the rear bumper which will wear off quick.

LOL .. mine rubbed with 255's .. so I went and looked. Sure enough, that tab is almost done for!

Can anyone tell me if 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 with a 45 offset will work on 245/35 and 265/35 tires (PSS) lowered (not slammed) with medium camber (1.5-2)?

I've found a set of cool Enkei Raijins in 18x8.8 +45 and 18x9.5+45 and wondering if they'll fit.

I'm getting some ST coilovers, and don't plan on going with too much camber, planning on a 1.5"-2" drop.

Hey guys, I'm currently running 18x9.5 +30 wheels on 225/40 tyres, don't really like the stretch look and planning on going to a meaty setup, what size tyres would you guys reckon would fit? and would not hit the side markers? Thanks in advance mates!

any reason you have a swquare setup but ran a stertched tire up front? you can fit a 255/35 all around man!

yes that will work, as mentioned in my first post trim the rear bumper tab (opr let it rub itself out) and roll/fold/push in the part that flares out by the side marker.

however i'd go with a 245/40 in the front isntead. to fit this you'll need minimal camber

+30 is a pretty aggressvie offset, you'll have to run a bit of camber to fit this properly. what are your suspension specs please?

however youshould EASILY be able to bump up to a 255/35. if you're worried about clearance go to a 245/40 and run a tire that runs wide such as a Z2 or a PSS.

you shouldn't even come close to the side markers, i dont even rub on them, but i'm +40 offset..

My conservative (for this thread) setup consists of 18x8.5 +45 with 225/40R18 in the front and 18x9.5 +45 with 255/35R18 in the rear. Lowered on Eibach Sportline and completely functional. Just about flush, which is more in line with how an exotic performance car comes from the factory. I'll dial in more front camber when I switch to coilovers. Only downside is that I can't rotate the tires, so I'll be buying new ones every year
