I bet if you picked up stock springs and a sway nobody would bat an eye at your car running DS.
I do have stock springs that I bought in case they said it was okay and the sways that come on the RS 1.0 are OEM. No one would let it slide when contingency money is involved though so I'm not going to risk that. Asked the committee and they specifically said the RS cannot move even with OEM springs.

There have been people that have checked VINs and have ran VINs to make sure a car is legal with certain packages. Latest I can think of is the ZCP equipped M3s. Because stiffer springs/wider wheels/EDC

Ya I typed that wrong I meant no one would ignore it when money is on the line.

So what exhaust are most people running for C/D-Street? I've seen that the STM is like the lightest bang for your buck but it being aluminum I'm curious how it holds up to a full autocross season.

Just get a Berk track pipe muffler delete. Best bang for the buck.

I've seen more than a few people with the muffler delete, but there are still plenty of people with the stock catback or something else

You won't even get close to blowing sound at sound-sensitive sites (93dB at 50') with the muffler delete in Street trim. Don't go kidding yourself about the other setups making more power either. Go with the lightest solution.

My preferred objective for designing an exhaust system is the lightest system that will meet the sound requirements, with the desired torque curve as a secondary factor for the header.

Haha ya when I went from the quad on my RS to a single pipe turn-down it went from 78db to 75. These cars are not loud in street class.

Thanks for all the info guys, this thread really helped me out as a first time autox'er.

Where do you guys get magnetic number sets? I used painters 3M tape last time I went and it started to peal off from all the air movement.

Mike,

What's the best way to launch a street class autocross car? Seems like if I launch (by simply dumping the clutch) around 3k, I get severe wheel hop and if I go up to 5k+ I get so much wheel spin I'm basically just doing a burnout. Is slipping the clutch the only way to get these cars going quickly? I'm also running koni yellows, would softening up the rebound a tad be helpful?

Launch RPM changes as surface and tires change... At least in my experience. That said, minimizing clutch slip without bogging and without excessive wheel spin just takes practice. A very quick lift if you get spin often gets things back on track. I'm still inconsistent on launches and it was one of the things I focused on a lot last year. A smooth start does seem faster, and if that takes a tiny bit of clutch slip... If you smell it, you've gone too far.

The softer suspension probably makes hop more of a problem for you than for me. Just barely into wheel spin rpm with a little throttle sensitivity is probably the way to go, with just enough clutch slip to soften the shock you get with a clutch dump.

Curious to hear how others approach this.
