I saw on FB that they've recently combined the 400m and 1km ODI events, so it looks like this calendar's up to date. I won't be doing ODI. My next events will be VKC and Red Star http://michelincup.co.za/Home/Calendar

30 January - R1 Dyno SVtech - Completed 28 February - R2 Zwartkops - Completed 20 March - Social Breakfast Run 17 April - R3&R4 ODI 1km & 400m 1 May - R5 VKC 16 July - R6 Red Star 9 August - R7 Gymkhana Zwartkops September – Michelin PS4 launch September TBA October – Year End Prize Giving TBA Looks like they are skipping an event in June (So Petrolheads4Pets fits in perfectly ) I plan on attending the ODI event, might as well see how slow I am against other cars, and embrace all forms of motorsport lol I popped into Tarlton at the beginning of March to practice drag racing. (And not to embarrass myself at the Michelin Cup event) I must say it isn't as easy as it looks, everything happens very quick, You get placed and in seconds the light is green and its time to go, Lessons learnt from March s2s (Tarlton) 1) Placement - Try to place yourself first before the other car, everything happens very quick, be prepared. 2) Tyre pressure - I had allot of wheel spin on take off (I had my Michelin Primacy's at 2.4bar cold, going to lower the pressure next time....probably around 1.8bar) 3) Bring a helmet and long sleeved top (I had neither, didn't see the danger in driving straight line for a few seconds) And long sleeved top??, they are serious about that, you cannot race with a T shirt lol [ame]http://youtu.be/pM9EvB3ubdY[/ame] Last edited by FT_86_SM_GP; 03-15-2016 at 04:53 AM. Had a short run today on an empty road when going to work. First thought: LOL slow car is slow. I can see why people with muscle car obsession (in the land of Freedom) would not be a fan.
How's the grip on the drag strip compared to the streets? Probably quite good, due to all the rubber laid down? |

Then if you're under 60, you spend a lot of time practicing the stuff you're not good at, so that you can get better. Because you need to get better, and that's important... Alternatively, if you're over 60, you just carry on doing the stuff you like whether you're good at it or not, and don't give a sh*t about all the other stuff or what anybody else thinks

But on the upside (seeing as it is a feel good thread) our cops ain't as gun happy or as frequent as theirs - meaning we get to bend the rules a little more easily

Bucket list: wheel-to-wheel racing. Even if it's an amateur series. Super bucket list: driving on the Ring. Mad man's goals: being able to afford a crash on either and do it again. But first...... got to get through ODI |

I was caught off guard, everything happened very quick, The lines to get on the strip(to race) was massive, probably waited 20/30mins in line to race (And I thank the Lord that Michelin Cup isn't having it with S2S at Tarlton anymore, as it would have been like the Verulam market on a Saturday morning with methi herbs on special). (DBN Indian Joke lol) With regards to tyres, I used my partly worn out Michelin Primary. Ran 2.4bar pressure cold. It did have allot of wheel spin on launch. (Launched at 4500rpms) I would have loved to have more practice, but S2S was packed, My number was 177 and ran a laughable, fun 15.9 secs Here's a pic of my car(With number 177 to corroborate) dropped of at Toyota yesterday for an oil service (Last time I serviced my car was last year August or Oct 2015, so thought it would be healthy to do an odd oil service) They charged me R1.5k, and surprisingly they charged me for an extra 0.4L of oil which I plan on getting a refund on on my next visit to Toyota, (Didn't expect consumables to cost that much)... Okay ...getting off topic now. |

I was searching online for stock 86 time, just to have a benchmark to work towards, the guys in the US make around 14.7s to 15.2s range for stock 86's (Obviously many different factors like altitude, temps etc) Wanted to find out what the 86's made on this day: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...highlight=TTCC |

It seems like the '60ft' / 18.2m mark is what most of the international guys worked on for improving times, And that looks like its all about grip on take off... With regards to KZN guys, not sure what a stock 86 does, But the fastest N/A I heard of was Anban ran 13.58sec if I can remember correctly with street tyres / UEL header / BRZ exhaust and tune |
