So basically:

-flash your original file back to ecu
-erase data in OF manager software
-reinstall as if new (do initial read)
-then procede as usual. You will be able to load up to 5 files since the unit should have auto updated to firmware 119 by then.

Cheers

Shiv@vishnu , I cant flash the original file to the ecu, the tablet gives me an incompatible error. I also cant erase the OFT from the OpenFlashManager because it gives me a "can not erase this device" error. I have a copy of my stock map so if only I could erase the device it would be fine. Trying to upload or download to the device gives me the 0x63 error. Help as my device is effectively not working at all.

Do you only have maps in the first two spots? If not can you make that happen?

Not sure if this is the place to post this, but anyway. . .

I would like to get the OFT as I like the idea of easily improving the way my car runs and helping with the torque dip. I'm completely new to electronic tuning, so I would likely be using OTS files for some time.

I'm nervous though about causing myself warranty issues with the known problems people have had or are having with the motor (DI seals, crickets, etc). I'd hate to be stuck with having a car that doesn't run right or a gigantic bill I can't afford to fix it.

Am I overthinking things? Do the improvements possible with a tune actually decrease the likelihood that I would have a problem with the motor?

Just trying to decide if the potential issues are worth the benefit. (oh, and the car is stock in terms of mechanical/exhaust and will mostly stay that way for now)

No I had updated to FW VER 119 and had 5 maps in the device. It was working perfectly then after flashing one of the maps the device would not communicate with the car or the would not allow me to add/delete maps as well as not allowing me to erase all.

What did you flash exactly?

Can you provide a step by step of what had happened that lead to your current issues?

Okay, So I was on the dyno for the 2nd day, had already flashed various maps many time (probably 9-10 flashes of different maps). On the last flash before the error, I replaced one of the 5 loaded maps on the device with the OFT Stage 2 1.42b map and uploaded it to the device. I then flashed it to the car and it went through fine. I then wanted to make a change so modified a map and tried uploading to the device through OpenFlashManager and I got the 0x63 error (you cant see the general car info or the 5 maps, they are all blank as if the device couldn't be read). I tried erasing the device and it gave me a message that the device could not be deleted. I tried connecting to the car and it gave me a message that the device is not compatible. Basically now the only thing I can get the device to do is download and view logs through the OFM software.

Please email me the user LOG file. It will help us figure out what exactly is happening. Also please email me the map that you modified and tried uploading to the OFT which caused the issue. Just to confirm the problem occurred after you uploaded a map to the OFT. Nothing to do with the actual ecu flashing process?

curious as to what the issue is.

It sounds like the OFT doesn't know what type of car it'll be used for.

"Crickets" is a High pressure fuel pump problem fixed by dealer replacing pump.

DI Seal problem caused by detonation (knock) due high RPM throttle transition ignition retard table not active, this is fixed by dealer re-flash , this "fix" is incorporated into OFT ROM's

With the OFT you can always reflash your original map (ROM) when you take car to dealer for service.

Its always possible that the dealer could "detect" that you have recently re flashed a ROM by looking at counters in ECU (engine starts since reflash, or possibly reflash counter), but the ROM that would be their would be the stock rom (assuming you have reflashed it) so its difficult for them to prove anything, however if they are really after you for some reason it may be possible for them to pursue the issue, however I would imagine this would be unlikely.

I know crickets is the HPFP, I was just listing a few of the known problems w the engine. The point being I'd hate to need warranty work for a real issue and have it denied. The fact that there are known issues makes me nervous about putting a ? into whether I would be fixed under warranty or not.

If you flash your ECU back to stock, there is no reason to be concerned at the dealership. Feel free to email sales@vishnutuning.com if you have any questions about the OFT

Cheers,

FYI, getting cold start issues with E85 tunes, both the last version and current b version. Car takes at least two tries to start when the temp is below 60 degrees. Perhaps the Propel fuel has too much ethanol?

And just a friendly reminder to all of you who are considering tuning your car: DO IT! And do e85 if you can. My goodness...
