As we have said, this thread is the GC vs. FR-S. I've driven many 350Zs and I have no desire to ever own one. The 350Z is an old car that isn't in production anymore. Plus it only has two seats. I don't want a used car.

You can't say that you will get more than 240hp, you have no idea what to expect and there's no telling what the stock internals will really hold or how good this car will really be. It might end up being a nightmare to really get some power out of. The bottom line is that I don't have the answers, and neither do you.

I do think in terms of pricing. If you spend $5k on a turbo setup on your $26k car, given that you have the knowledge to install the kit and tune it yourself you'll save a few pennies for labor, but if you don't, good luck spending another couple of grand getting it installed.

So you're looking at $33kish for your sketchy (and possibly still very underpowered) FR-S.

The majority of us are looking for the best bang for the buck - the best deal. The best power, the best looks, the best mpg, the best warranty, etc. the best all around answer for our next car purchase to reliably get us from A to B while having a little fun here and there.

I can care less what it's called. I was using it as an example, not telling you to go buy a damn 350z. Use just a little ounce of thought for just one moment.

In my case it don't even matter what it's capable of at first launch, because I'm not buying it until it's been out for another year. R&D should be making break-throughs by then. Aside from that, an Ej can be swapped into it. Either way, the potential for the car is THERE. Stop pretending like the Aftermarket won't be all over this. It already is.

People spend $5k on turbo setups on cars they bought from the junk yard and spent $5k dollars on the car. It's about the dedication you have for Said vehicle, not about what that car retails for.

My sentiments exactly.

if you want a track toy/weekend warrior, buy the fr-s. if you want versatility, do yourself a favor and buy the gc.

If you are a single college student the FRS would be fine too. Also gives you an excuse not to take your beer buddies home after a party. Nothing like puke on the side of your new car to ruin your night.

31mpg EPA rating is good, except I think the Genesis is one of those cars that does worse in the real world. The new direct injected ones might be slightly better.

Just noticed the r-spec GC doesn't come with cruise control.. have to get the base or the premium.

edit* now just noticed the premium GC only comes in automatic...

My friend has a Genesis Coupe 2.0t

it's a nice CAR, but it has little race inspiration behind it. It was built using the muscle car philosophy of 1960's america.

"make it a box with wheels, put some seats in it, and give it enough power to make people happy"

it's heavy, it's oversided, and it has no trick, performance orientated engineering gimmicks regarding suspension and engine layout.

my opinion

or to get a LSD you gotta go for the GT trim in Canada which is an extra 6k on top of base and comes with a sunroof and a bunch of tech I don't want

Hyundai Romania has only one trim level, a 2.0T (210hp). It's manual (no automatic option), it has pretty much everything I'd want (cruise control, auto HVAC, fog lamps, even "goodies" like an LSD) and some things I don't want (sunroof, electric adjustment for the driver's seat). The bad thing - it doesn't looks like it's available for a drive test. Is it even in showrooms?

dont you think it was more insprired by cars like i dunno... the Silvia/240sx? 2.0l turbo, RWD 2+2, good brakes, track tuned suspension drag of .32... doesnt sound like a muscle car at all. yea its heavy but its not all an under engineered box with a huge motor.

that cod is actually pretty high and no...its pretty much a tourer in my eyes. also, i think the 2.0t is more of an afterthought as it seems like the v6 is the bigger deal in the companies eyes. there are more dollars to be made competing againsts mustangs, camaros and challengers than cars than cars that dont exist because they were part of a segment that didnt sell
