If contingency was anything like it was in the past (thinking like 2 years ago when everyone in CAM ran their tire) it’ll be pretty damn good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As others have mentioned, this tire is not on the pointy end for autox (like the RE71R), but it is still an excellent tire, and is supposed to last a long time. Time will tell if the tire grip falls off over the life of the tire or not. The only disadvantage is for those of use that run in local classes that are based on PAX. Hopefully the SSC PAX is adjusted appropriately for this tire.

I liked the Z2 *Spec so this is actually relatively good news.

They do not deal with heat well at all. They get greasy and feel pretty bad after. I recall a set we had got fairly hot and they were trash after that day. Never recovered.
Once you go over the limit they don't recover well. Certainly not as well as the RE, Nexen or Rival. I also tend to like tires that handle like the Rival and the Z2SS was pretty much the opposite. |

I have driven the 615k+ on multiple cars, including a 90% prep'd STR S2000. They are only a couple tenths off the RE71 on like a 50 sec course. Local club stuff (50 car events) I can place top 3-5 PAX easily. I truly enjoy driving on them. They are also fantastic for lapping day stuff if you arent just SRZBNS autox. That said, they are NOT Z2SS. The rumor is the they share a similar compound but the tire construction itself is different from sources I have.
Like others have said, several One Lap cars use them. The RS Motors One Lap car runs them, and now owns the street tire record for 3 different tracks (Gingerman, Toronto MSP, Blackhawk Farms)

![]() But agreed, I think it makes a great tire for the class. Especially if people plan to do track days with the setup too, which they should after the very lengthy letter I wrote to help get an oil cooler allowance. ![]()

I think I've settled on the Konig Ultraform as my wheel. Any recommendations on where to order?

Wheels and Falken Tires
So after noticing the SSC selected tire is the Falken Azenis RT615K+ 225/45-17, I realized it's the same tire I used last year for street class. Only on a 17x7 wheel. I am planning on selling the set but wondering if these would be good for someone going into SSC as well. Save them a few bucks by buying used. So here's what i have:
Motegi MR131 17x7 Silver Wheels with Falken Azenis RT615K+ 225/45-17 The wheels are 17x7 +45 offset in silver. No TPMS installed. I was not able to find an official weight for this wheel on the Motegi web site. I find different weight listed in the specs for different sellers. Tire Rack has the black at 16.7 but the bronze at 17.3. I don’t see how the paint color could be that different. The silver must no longer be available but I found them from Amazon sellers listed at 16.94 regardless of color. But are these considered without valve stems, center caps, balance weights? My understanding for SSC is the minimum 17 lbs includes weights, caps, and stems. So you decide if they qualify for SSC or not. I see the Konig Ultraform in 17x8 #UF87510406 has the weight also at 16.94. interesting. The tires, Falken Azenis RT615K+ 225/45-17, are in perfect condition other than the usage. I only used these for autox and driving to and from the events. There is less than a 1000 road miles on these and about 10 autox events. If there is interest I'll post on the market place with pics of course. |
