Any plans for a race gas map? Like 100 octane. Or would it be possible to tweak the 93 octane fuel and timing to run 100 octane?

having some issues, the software (v2.0) won't see the chip. Also when I log into the database to download maps, there is nothing in my account.
EDIT: got the chip remapped. Seems like the Unichip would did not like the com port it used to so I had to make a new one? weird. Any firmware or software updates available? Also I still can't see maps in my account

I'm pretty sure if you just have an aftermarket axle back like I do, you don't run the catb option for the tunes. The stock tune I think is fine.

Load references
SloS14… thanks for the post.
Think of a map like a spreadsheet. If a map is airflow based, one axis references airflow (the MAF for the FT86) and the other axis references engine speed. Where the Unichip goes in the map is a combination of airflow… somewhere between 0% and 100%... and engine speed…somewhere between idle and redline. We can set both the 100% and redline as desired. Consider, for example, a “brand x” intake set up. With that intake, you’d expect the best airflow for the engine would happen with the intake, a good set of headers, and a good exhaust. We do testing and determine where to set the 100% to ensure we’re making the correct changes at the most airflow that configuration will breath. Now consider the car with the intake but not the headers or exhaust modifications… by definition, it shouldn’t breathe as well. As a consequence, the load input (MAF) to the Unichip won’t go all the way to the 100% row… it might only get to row 9 instead of row 10 because the airflow is only 90% as much without the headers and exhaust. Since the corrections are partially airflow based, at that 90% value the corrections are “correct” for either configuration…the difference is without the headers and exhaust modifications, that’s all the higher in the map the engine goes. With the headers and exhaust, the engine can process more air and the Unichip can make additional adjustments. Same map, same data, but the engine gets to different places depending on what it does. That’s a bit of a simplification, but it’s an important concept because each vehicle, each intake, each headers, etc…are all slightly different so as a result on any particular car where the map actually goes will be slightly different. The Unichip correspondingly goes to a slightly different spot in the map. Cheers |

Jack - as a software developer with some tuning experience I thought you were trying to pull a fast one with the explanation for identical files but what you just said makes sense. Thanks for the reply. I'm still somewhat on the fence but so far the reviews seem overall positive. I've always had good luck making power with piggybacks.

Got my Unichip Q today, and the install went fine until I got to the part about selecting the map. Apparently, I did not purchase the 2 position switch. All I got is the unit itself and the wiring harness.
The installation instructions read: a. Connect the Map 0/1 Switch black 2-pin Molex plug to the StS's 2 pin Comm connector b. Position the Map 0/1 Switch Loom as desired So here's what I've got, a 2 pin connector and a 6 pin connection on the StS with 3 different positions that it can be plugged into: ![]() I plugged it into the middle position, as you see here. My question is, how do I select between the 2 maps? Move the connector to one of the other positions? And if so, which one is which? Or must I also purchase the optional switch in order to change maps? And if I'm limited to only one without the switch, which one is it? This is the only problem I encountered -- the rest of the install went really smoothly, except getting to a couple of those connectors would be a real bitch if you had large hands. As for performance, the torque dip is noticeably smoothed out. Of that I'm certain. However, whether that's the result of the valley being shallower or the peaks being lower, I can't really say for certain with just the ol' butt dyno. I've only had the car 2 weeks and haven't really spent enough time with it to be able to say for certain. Plus it only has 750 miles on it, so I'm still not pushing it very hard. I will say that I took off from a dead stop on dry pavement a couple of times after the install, and the traction control flashed at me. I've never seen that before, so I have to assume that it's generating a little more power, resulting in breaking the tires loose more than it used to.

Did you buy it used? It should come with the switch. I think I read somewhere it will default to the first map if there is an issue?
Speaking of switching maps. Is there any benefit to resetting the ecu when trying different maps?

If I can switch it somehow by moving the connector, that's no big deal. I don't see myself doing it very often. But I just have no idea which position is which, or if that's even how to do it.

@jeffchap I agree with the last guy, it should be in your kit. I bought the Flux2, so I have an extra one if you'd like to buy one on the cheap! PM me if you're interested.
