Oh I see. It all depends. I think BMW will likely add more stuff like sound deadening material, structural integrity braces, the convertible system, electronics like driver assistance stuff, mood lighting, etc.

I personally owned a MK3 Camaro with a custom targa top that was lighter than the standard model, primarily because they just started with a t-top and removed the T, and replaced the heavy glass T-tops with a piece of convertible material, and a little bracing that stiffened things up a bit. I'm sure it flexed a bit more but you couldn't tell it in day-to-day driving.

How bland. I hate how most manufacturers insist on the same uniform corporate look for all their cars these days. I mean, when the original M1 came out it wasn't just a marginally sleeker 5-series.
