Usually. Lol. I had a 2001 Saab 93 some time ago that had a bad drain... Somewhere. Battery and second battery were good. With assistance from my dad and another time my father in law, I pulled every fuse in the car. Twice. Could not locate the drain. None of us could find any explanation for it. Fortunately I was rear ended with no injury. Totaled the Saab and the other guys insurance paid more than I had paid for the car.

Meeting over. Car tested 12.77 the moment the voltmeter touched the battery and within 20 seconds read 12.80.

After 20 mile drive back, the battery read 12.89 and rose to 12.90. Five minutes later it was 12.91. Am going to check intermittently like @TM did and post results.

I think Jpit used 4 gauge for a while before converting to the 1.5 dump, I ended up running 2 gauge. I think I probably did over kill, but I haven't had an issue so far. I think you would be safe running 4 If you decide to relocate. It would be your choice to run a full ground to the engine compartment or just ground to the body in the trunk. Jpit grounded to the body in the trunk, I ran a ground from the engine compartment to the trunk, and grounded to the body at the back seat. Like I said, overkill.

I also think you guys just have some weak batteries. May not hold a charge, or may just be extra sensitive to temperature. IMO

Reasonable prices here?

What's it take? Will 25 ft do it?

I'm not looking to buy in the next 24 hours or anything... but that Saab situation I mentioned earlier REALLY turned me off on electrical issues. I don't know how many times I had to pop the hood and unhook the battery terminals in the winter just so it would start when I came back out of the courthouse. My mechanic father in law came up with a solution - we were going to put a disconnect switch in the cabin to disconnect the battery from in there. But then the car got totaled and I bought a Honda.

25ft is more than enough. I think I did it with less than 15ft (per run)

here is my diy for anyone who is interested, or just wanting to see what is required: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69409

And those are crack prices. If you have a harbor freight, northern tool, grainger, welding shop, etc.. you should be able to buy it local for much cheaper. Amazon has plenty of options if you have to have it shipped: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/TEMCo-Welding-Battery-Cable-WC0190/dp/B00LIB7XDM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1416516035&sr=8-4"]TEMCo Welding Lead & Car Battery Cable WC0190 - 30' Black/Red (15' Blk, 15' Red) 4 Gauge AWG - - Amazon.com[/ame]
just search for 4 gauge welding cable.

just some starter info if you can't work anything else out.

Still staying up - 12.91. I'm confused. I'll check it once more before I have to drive 25 miles at 5:30.

My battery guy loves the Odyssey, he's convinced me to upgrade to them eventually.

He sells the same physical size battery as the recommended Powersonic to start V8 race cars.

Odyssey batteries also have larger terminals (less resistance) and are designed to cope with high under bonnet temps. They are a bit heavier.

No idea how they handle the cold.

Get us the part number & specs. A more powerful battery with the same physical foot print would be welcome news to just about everyone.

Yes, it would!

BTW, I drove the car 25 miles each way last night, getting home at about 8:15. 12.90 when I got home. The car sat overnight with amp unplugged and ESC off.

12.55 a few minutes ago and it started at 32 degrees F. I checked the battery with the car running. 14.50.

I assume that 12.90 to 12.55 overnight in 20+/- degree F temps means I either have an unknown drain or a bad battery..?
