Looks like there's a 95% chance I'll be moving to Ft Worth, TX real soon (in the next month or so) since I was offered a position from work to transfer out there. I know it's OT, but my wife & I are looking to rent a house and would like to know where the good/bad areas are? Looking to be somewhere in the South Ft Worth area, west Arlington, or somewhere in between as that's where mine and my wife's employers are currently located. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. (You can also PM me so I don't take the thread way OT)

Somewhere decent in this area would be preferred:

I wouldn't want to live inside the 20/820 loop. Based on your route map I would pick south of 20 near your west waypoint or east of 820 near your east waypoint.

This is an over-generalization of the good/bad areas in that part of town, but it's a good place to start if you are not familiar with the area at all:

Keep in mind that there are not too many houses in the zones south of I-20, east of I-35, and west of 287. As far as commutes go, 820 sucks really really bad. If you could live in the area around the words "West Arlington" then you could probably avoid 820 on both commutes. Naturally those are also the most affluent areas so houses will be pricier.

Hope that gets you pointed in the right direction!

Is your offered position in Benbrook? Where will your wife be working?

I live in West Fort Worth and can give a good heads up in the area surrounding as I've been in the area for over 10 years.

Yea I live West/SouthWest of the I-20/I-35W intersection. South of Sycamore School Rd. Its a pretty nice area, but I have combat PTSD so I'm always on guard and prepared no matter where I am. I've never heard of any crime in my neighborhood, but I know that there are some shady areas with substantial crime rates around along Crowley Rd. There is government assisted housing areas a little farther away that's riddled with crime. Live in Benbrook, from what I've heard its a lot nicer.
