So a coworker shot some starting fluid into my eye on accident... One trip to the eye doctor later I've got 5 different drops to put in throughout the day. My eye is on fire and vision blurry. Told it will clear up in 6 to 8 days.



Killed all my holiday plans.

Can't even lounge around the house and watch tv this weekend as my eye just waters and burns anytime it is open.

Turns out it is much harder to keep one eye closed and the other open than I thought.

My suggestion would be lots of Vodka and orange juice and lots of long naps for the next few days.

Ok, I had my tantrum.

My car was perfect, ran perfect for 20k miles, then I had a guy, not my normal shop, install the fuel flap. The reason I had someone new touch my car is I won some free labor at a summer kickoff raffle.

Well, first time I ran the car down to 1/4 tank with the new anti fuel starvation flap, I stall from fuel starvation and get a tow home. Also notice my fuel pressure is lower than normal. I also smell fuel every time I fill up. I find out the ring that holds the fuel "box" in the tank is only hand tight. It actually has a torque, 62 foot pounds I think. Obviously something was installed wrong, or one GIANT coincidence.

I'm taking the car back to my normal guys in July to get fixed.

I think my flap was installed by the same shop you had issues with.

I should have driven the car more after the work. I was too busy playing with another toy.

My GenX is showing. I have yet to see a truly good use for IoT. It's always a sad attempt at adding perceived value. The indemnity clause hidden inside the box is... Has that crap ever been tested in court? It's ridiculous.

I am a millennial. I also don't see the reason for IoT. Some of my friends have a lock and thermostat, which is kind of cool, but I don't see a reason for a stove or fridge or washing machine to be connected to the internet. I actually have wifi thermostats and an oven in my house, but I don't have them connected to anything.

I think I mentioned this a few weeks ago but i was able to set up an IR transmitter that can shoot signals out to my AC unit and turn the AC/heat on and set its temperature. It's super handy if I'm out and about and don't want to have it on while I'm gone for several hours, and then when I know I'm about to head home, I can turn the AC on, for example, like 20-30 minutes early so that it won't be blazing hot inside.

And, well, I wouldn't have necessarily chosen the digital lock bolt but it hasn't been all bad.

Certain things are kind of unnecessary. But even having a wireless oven could be useful. I mean, if you're in another room or out on the patio, you may not hear the usual beep that the oven has reached the target temp, but with a phone app you can get the notification.

I think it's massively overblown in some ways, but there's definitely some use for it.

I completely agree. It's essentially the same clause that's in every piece of software now, the whole "either you agree to our terms, or don't use it". Despite the fact that certain software is required to keep life going (try working without agreeing to Microsoft's version of that eula)

I believe Tesla has a similar clause on the vehicle OS, which might be one of the most expensive and legally binding versions of an eula(considering one must agree to purchase, pay taxes, and register the vehicle all before the process of agreeing to the eula)

Played Hot Ones’ Truth or Dab game last night. It came w 2 million Scoville sauce. Sauce was fucking hot… but it had a taste & spiciness went away after 5 mins or so. It taste better than 1 chip challenge chip. That chip was a pure pain, no taste.

Next week, gonna be playing again. I’ve ordered next up spicy sauce, it’s called Last Dab XXX. It suppose to be 1 million Scoville more than last sauce I’ve used.

I have a wifi thermostat which I really like.
I have wifi smart receptacles is several locations (mostly for Christmas stuff) which I really really like.
We have a Ring camera system witch I totally love.
I plan on getting a touch to unlock door lock for the front door soon.
I say this because I really enjoy all these techy gadgets, find them very useful and actually do use them all the time. The name Alexa gets said around here a lot! She is my friend.
But...
I do not understand what possible use a link to the refrigerator, washer or dryer would have. There is zero need to be able to operate these things remotely. Once upon a time the ability to start an oven preheating remotely would have been handy since they took so long to warm up but our new(ish) stove hit temperature in about 3 minutes so even that benefit no longer exists.
