Heh, I know what you mean. This car is sought after by thiefs everywhere. While I was driving, my buddy in the car said not to go into the city with it, and I completely agree. Then again, he just got the car back today and has no registration or plates on it.

If it's rarely used, a cheap one would be fine but for precision stuff, like you said, and for stuff I'm using all the time for years or might be used for heavy duty stuff, than I'd pick the better tools. I certainly wouldn't get a floor jack or a cherry picker from HF. Plus brands like Craftsman have lifetime warranties on tools. Buy it once and if it breaks exchange it.

The first thing I think of when someone says Harbor freight is an episode of "The Colony" where they found a crate of HF tools. After a week of using them they try to trade away the untouched air compressor to a trader. But as they're rolling it outside the thing starts falling apart in front of the trader. I think it was just a wheel and maybe some plastic but it was funny as heck because the guy was sitting outside with a machine gun watching them.

As far as jacks go, Craftsman jacks are actually Made In China and carry a 1 year warranty. Your best bet is to restore an old American (30+ yr steel) jack if you're not trying to spend a few hundred on a new American or one of several foreign models that can be up to $700.
