I remember the day I bought my first Snap-On tool. Fucking $20 for a crowfoot, wtf is that.

My brother and I are building a 1959 Mini Cooper race car, with an engine from none other than... THE ITR!! A decently low-mile B18C5 that we pulled out of a junked ITR...

I think you would like it! But it's far from done...

"The force of The Obelisk's pulse-wave was bearing down on me. I was helpless to stop it, and didn't bother trying. I squeezed my eyes shut as tightly as I could in those fleeting milliseconds and images from my past flashed before my mind's eye. Barbara and Greg dropping Alex and I off on our first day of high school. Reading our acceptance letters for White Rook's Applegate Project. The first moment I laid eyes on Liam Keese. The last time we saw Daniel before the New Hope Center exploded. Alex killing Liam Keese after he hunted us down. Meeting Wade for the first time in a hospital bed. Videl Zygmund. The immutable voice of The Obelisk. Alex sacrificing himself to stop Videl. Every bit of advice Wade ever offered. Every regret. Every smile. Everything flashed before my eyes in those last moments. . .until the crash." - William B. Hendriks, White Rook III: The Exodus

"I was dead after that moment. But I was still there, watching my own death from some form of pseudo-conscious introspection. I watched as The Obelisk's pulse-wave crashed into me, hollowing out a massive crater through a cataclysmic explosion. The shock wave from the explosion leveled trees, towns, and even some overhead satellites. There was nothing left of my body.

There was nothing left to stop the inevitable end of humankind. As the dust and fire wafted and smoldered, The Obelisk scanned for my corpse with his mind and smiled. I watched without emotion, as though the universe were my television and I were floating in the sky above my grave. Finding no sign of me, The Obelisk laughed until he coughed, soaking in his hubris. Then he yelled into the cavernous crater, 'Where are your heroic words now, human?' He stood up straight and looked at the charred, barren wasteland his attack created and finished, 'Hushed in the sand! Thrown to the wayside!' He quickly scanned the planet for what human life remained and growled, 'I told that insect, this planet is mine.'''

Heh, I know what you mean. This car is sought after by thiefs everywhere. While I was driving, my buddy in the car said not to go into the city with it, and I completely agree. Then again, he just got the car back today and has no registration or plates on it.

I doubt that the 10 dollar Harbor Freight one (which comes with more accessories by the way) would do any worse, but it sure costs less.

I also got a 40? pack of hacksaw blades for the price of 1, and I don't notice much of a difference. The more expensive one I bought from OSH was not able to cut any better.

And then when it comes to like drill bits or spanners and stuff like that, how bad can it be? My Harbor Freight drill bit set was like 5 bucks and they seem to be good (though I have only used them a handful of times).

However I would probably not feel comfortable buying a "precision" machine like a milling machine from them.
If it's rarely used, a cheap one would be fine but for precision stuff, like you said, and for stuff I'm using all the time for years or might be used for heavy duty stuff, than I'd pick the better tools. I certainly wouldn't get a floor jack or a cherry picker from HF. Plus brands like Craftsman have lifetime warranties on tools. Buy it once and if it breaks exchange it.

The first thing I think of when someone says Harbor freight is an episode of "The Colony" where they found a crate of HF tools. After a week of using them they try to trade away the untouched air compressor to a trader. But as they're rolling it outside the thing starts falling apart in front of the trader. I think it was just a wheel and maybe some plastic but it was funny as heck because the guy was sitting outside with a machine gun watching them.

As far as jacks go, Craftsman jacks are actually Made In China and carry a 1 year warranty. Your best bet is to restore an old American (30+ yr steel) jack if you're not trying to spend a few hundred on a new American or one of several foreign models that can be up to $700.
