That all aftermarket wheels means owner/driver is going to abuse the car. I say its regardless whether they're stock or aftermarket. You'll only know if its abused unless you actually drive it and check out the car in person.

And here's an S2k maybe worth doing some work on.

Or perhaps look into something cheap to start off. Like this MR2.

Or a 300ZX?

Just remember that the 350z is a Grand Touring car, meaning less harsh, less communicative, and more focus on comforts than a Miata.

Honestly I was looking at RX-8's prices just yesterday. Which is another high maintenance sports car.Attachment 22501

Hmm makes sense what you guys say... The MR2 Spyder is nice, but they're rare so I imagine parts are $$$

Lets see what happens in the upcoming months.....

I don't think it's not THAT expensive. Let me check my local classified and before I state some BS here.

Highest of $12.8k and lowest of $5.5k. So Just say you get it for $6k (after tax & reg) and you have decent amount of $ left to do turbo or other mods

Well 3300 is not that bad for a first 'real' car.

If only I could find a 1998 2.5RS lol

Unicorn (Green 2.5RS coupe) will be hard to find. I'll just aim for '98~'01 2.5RS.

Which btw I found few for $5k locally

It pisses me off that I can find some, but they end up having automatics or have been modded. So the "unicorn" for me is to find a low mileage, m/t, stock 2.5 RS The color can be freakin' pink, baby blue, neon purple for all I care as long as the car was stock.

Well, the drivetrain is shared across X million Corollas, Celicas, and Matrices (lol), Lotus drivetrains drop right in too, if worse comes to worst the 1NZ fits with an adapter plate and mount extension, and you can find those from X million Yarii and such. I would bet that the brakes come straight off another Toyota.

For the stuff on the body, well, aftermarket panels seem to be pretty cheap. Some of the factory stuff is pretty useless, such as the rear engine diaper, no worries if that breaks (if you really want to protect the muffler and whatever you can just put a piece of coroplast or aluminum there). There seem to be plenty of aftermarket suspension components still out there.

The tires are 15" 205 and 195, so not expensive either.

Oh and, can I say 30mpg+ in heavy traffic?

Saw a really, really clean, white twin-turbo Z32 a few years ago. It looked pristine.
