I have owned a mustang and a focus and they both held up well. I haven't had any build quality issues with ford. I currently drive a WRX and its as tough as nails. I love it. The 86 should have excellent build quality as well.

can you give a review of the gen coupe?

The 2013 mustang GT is not $25k it starts at $30,300. Its around $33,500 with delivery and the GT track package.

The 2013 V6 mustang with the performance package is around $25k.

Truecar.com. The 2012 GT with factory rebates goes for ~$25k now. That is what we are talking about. Not the new '13.

Ford has definitely gotten their act together, but working for a Mustang performance company I know first hand the flaws such as the recent transmission woes on the Mustangs. Ford won't stand behind a lot of these claims, made me lose a lot of respect for them overall. By build quality I just mean the use of hard plastics and overall interior design, by comparison the FR-S/BRZ is much much better in both fields. I've driven a lot of 79 and up Mustangs and they always have a cheap feel to them to be honest, but I'm used to driving Japanese & German cars. After a few years the Mustangs I've driven get creases in their leather seats and interior parts start creaking under chassis flex. I realize the Mustang has always been a bargain sports car so you have to trade off somewhere, but still it seems other companies try harder.

So here is what i get scion 200 hp 2 year warranty and 25k mile warranty? lighter weight, lsd.

GC: 100k warranty and 10 year warranty 300 hp or close to 400 hp. Brembo brakes, lsd, more weight.

Am i missing anything?
Yea ill wait and buy one of these two used but at the new price why the hell would anyone buy the fr-s. Especially when the majority of people buy cars and only keep them for 3 years.

This was suppose to be the car to save Scion. It might but it is priced wrong since Scion does have pure pricing. But the deal is about this car is that there is nothing else like it except for the BRZ. No a Miata is not like a FRZ, neither is a mustang or a camaro or a 370Z. The FR-S\BRZ is unique.

Hopefully bespoke is standard
the FR-S weighs closer to 2600 pounds
0 to 60 is in the low 6 secs range
The cars dyno around 180hp to the wheels

Then people will forget about the $24.9k price.

if bespoke and fogs are standard the price is worth it..if you have to pay 500-1000 on top of the 25 for the bespoke WITHOUT a subwoofer id be mad. if it has a sub it'd be worth paying 500 for it imo.

I wonder when we will see this car on a dyno (3rd party test). Already have the engine dyno, but want to see what it puts to the wheels.

Relative to your description of the GC's power, we should re-evaluate the FRS to 220 bhp and super duper lighter in weight ;-)

We have to wait and see tomorrow what come standard on the FR-S.
i love mustangs but you lose 5k as soon as you drive a new one off the lot. also they are so cheap but so awesome seeming, Ford skimped somewhere, thats the only way its priced as it is. Toyosubbie took their time and used quality parts that will last

Yeah that is one bad thing about the Mustang; resale value. But if you plan on keeping the car for awhile the '12 represent some good value before the new '13 come in. Especially a GT that is as fast as a M3.
