all i know is my car has a turbo, and still the fastest 86 i've ever been in (by a lot) has a vortech kit. granted he's on flexfuel e85 and i'm at 7psi, but the thing is no joke. i was more impressed than i expected to be.

I asked for a demo unit to test compare from Adam. Got shot down, which is fine, no biggy. So I ordered one...

Then talked to 3 different tuners about the kit and they mirrored what Brian said.

• No accurate way to measure IAT
• No hard data from Innovate on testing methods on IAT
• Heat Soak Major Concerns (Dyno Data is not Enough)
• US only market to sell kit without intercooler (Why)

I cancelled my order, because these questions had vague answers even from Innovate which basically said, don't worry about heat, the twin screw only rotates at 12,000RPM max which does not generate enough heat.


When asked for temp info to back that up, they did NOT test the kit monitoring intake air temps. Innovate also has some of the worst transparency in terms of forum and internet data I have seen. The fact I can get more quality information from owners is not comforting.



I will gladly retract my statements and change my opinion when these questions are answered with facts.


It's not an Innovate vs. issue its an Innovate issue.

there IS a post charger temp sensor design (from Nameless.) You are right about Innovate, they should have included this in the initial design (not very innovative.). Once a tune is developed with that sensor I am onboard, I like the concept of not having an intercooler, this car isn't meant to handle much more than 200ft/lb torque anyway. And DI + a slow efficient positive displacement blower may turn into that simple magic formula that gives this car the reliable boost in power it needs. Just don't expect a "package" deal from innovate, look at the twin screw again a year from now.

I just have a hard time swallowing a sealed bearing non cooled centrifugal supercharger lasting more than 30k miles.

Would be fair to ask the same question as you of Vortech show us the facts that these things don't have to be rebuilt every 30k miles.

I dunno if this question has been answered already... but does it take alot more internal forging to make big power with a SC

I'm making 340whp stock block and stock header another user hit 365. How much power do you need? The blower can only produce so much cfm. Porting heads valves and forged rotating assembly give you some more. Evasive got 405 with forged internals and a lot of boost on the hks unit. But is a couple grand worth 40whp?) It will certainly give you more longevity and faster spool

Well Im just curious if the 400 range is feasible with a SC system like a turbo system is. I mean you can just use a bigger blower like maybe a V3 or higher since the FRS kits are currently using V2. So just wanna know if there is a power if there is a distinct power difference between the 2 platforms and if 1 requires more work on the bottom and top end than the other.

we are using the V3

designed for this vehicle. why are you so afraid of turbo. some of the turbo kits are cheaper

Ah I muist be thinking of the higher V-series then... I thought it was running V-2.... I'm not afraid of turbo I want to find a FI kit that gives easy 400+ range and spools nicely
