Mine finally came yesterday, they start work on the car today. But, it's the first one they've done, so it's gong to take some time :-(. Well probably get the car back next week.

I got me some crickets now at 4k miles. Been using Shell 93 80% of the time and Mobile 93 20%.
Only change is very cold weather. Id like to blame god, obama and the economy. If the crickets continue I will end my life.

So I just drive up to my local toyota dealer and show them the chirp and they'll fix it for free? Or is it only the brz that gets the fix because the PDF that the op posted is brz specific

I posted the paper for the brz because I hadn't seen one already. The TSB for the scion came out like a week prior. It's on the interwebs somewhere, but the dealer should know about it at this point.

I got the car for a few months now. I have been getting the crickets sound since the first week. Now I wanna take it back to get it fix. Im curious if they would blame for anything like racing? Cause I kinda redlining a little bit.

After driving about 1200 miles: from 1500 to 2700, engine chirp came back. My VIN ends with 9169.

I am going to wait until feb before checking. Perhaps they will actually have a fix for it.

I've been waiting since Nov 10. Checked with dealer and was told they are waiting on parts from Subaru.

So I'm almost 7000 miles ... and I've noticed my chirps dissapeared around 6k ..
I use Mobil/Chevron Only now. Shell didn't cut it for me. Engine runs beautifully and it got a lot quieter :o I run the engine pretty spirited btw so I heard it a lot when I come off freeways or stop lights ... I'm pretty pleasantly surprised ![]() Maybe this is why the engineers didn't notice chirping - they drove it harder than most? :x

I still only use Shell and still no crickets. Never used Mobil fuel ever. Chevron has been good to me in the past but I read somewhere to use only Shell in the BRZ so I've stuck with it. Oh and I drive crazy hard every week. YMMV I guess. |
