Building a light car is expensive guys. Especially with all the required safety equipment. For those that truly understand the purpose of the GT86, 25-30k from base FR-S to the BRZ is a bargain.

Drive a Genesis and you'll know why I don't like it. If you consider yourself the type to value a car's handling/feel over brute power or price bargain then it won't be an issue. I feel the FR-S/BRZ is not only better made but engineered better overall and it's a pure sports car vs. the GC being a fat pig GT car with it's eyes on stealing sales from the Nissan Z.

The price against it's competitors is decentish enough... what really puts it in stark contrast is looking at the price on scion.com and seeing the huge gap between it and the tC.
I didn't think there was a chance in hell of there being $5.5k difference between the two.

Sorry I don't understand your point. Ok so same money, take the base 2.0T and compare it to the FRS. Within $200 of each other. So "people are not going to look at a less powerful car if its the same money." The 2.0T has 274hp and is within ~$200 of the 200hp FRS. Does that mean no one is going to look at the FRS because it is "a less powerful car if its the same money"? There will be lots of cross shopping between the two based on price. Quote:

FRS is $24,930. Cheapest GC 3.8 is $29,625. $4.7k is not a small piece of change. I highly doubt someone looking at the FRS would compare the FRS to the GC 3.8 that is almost $5k more expensive. Maybe there are a few out there, I sure would like to talk to them. The 2.0T makes a much more realistic comparison since it is within $200 of each other. Quote:
Didn't realize how over priced the FRS was until now when we are comparing it to a car close to $30k. Oh well. |

Hyundai has also come a long way, just like like Kia. In fact, Kia and Hyundai's progression is that of Toyota and Honda in their glory days of the 90's. To those who say "you just can't see the value in this car's performance", wrong. It's priced far too high for what you get. 200hp is nothing to write home about, and I want to see test numbers and road course/track times on it to see what it's really capable of first. I'm sure it feels great, and I'm all for that, but right now I'm edging on that it's not up to what it's be heralded to ultimately handling wise. That said, I'm sure a proper suspension and tire set up would net some impressive numbers, even the Hotchkis Celica kit yielded that with the 7th gen, but the point is that you have to tack on another 3k+ for said parts on top of an entry level $25k car. And that's not including the typical basic power bolt-ons and tuning even. But one has to learn be happy with what you want, and good luck to all those that buy and are happy with the FR-S/BRZ. |

I would not buy it but the 2013 mustang is a bargain I agree.
I don't see anybody else putting in HIDs and LED taillights standard and RWD with 305HP for $22.2K We have to wait and see tomorrow what come standard on the FR-S. |
