Unfortunately that wasn't an option to begin with, they did too much damage to even reuse the windows. It is just going to set me back a few weeks and a couple thousand dollars.

Is this a rental property for you?

Brings to mind a story about a cabin I bought back in Connecticut. It was about 10 miles from where we lived and was on a large lake. I mean ON the lake - about 20' from the shore.

The 1920s cabin was built into the side of a big hill. The foundation was piled up limestone rocks. The cabin not only slanted toward the lake, it listed to one side. My brother was visiting once so, I took advantage of the cheap labor and talked him into helping me jack the cabin up and put a proper partial foundation under it.

So, equipped with several house jacks we started in. We got one corner about 2 feet higher and another corner about a foot higher when my brother scurried out from under the cabin and exclaimed that we best quit jacking around with puppy and shore it up where it is.

I asked him how come and he said that the back part (uphill side) was breaking lose and he feared the whole thing would slide down the hill into the lake!

So, we stacked up cement blocks and let the cabin down on them - and called it good.

THE END

Yeah it is my last one. Should have been doing yearly walk throughs. Lesson learned.

My uncle was having my brother work with him on jacking a house to level it years ago. It was an old house with a post and beam foundation. The wood block they were using popped out and smacked him in the face and knocked him out

When i lived in Oregon building codes were at best strange. Houses near by were built on nothing but heavy wood timbers. I put a shop on mine and the inspector had to come out , it seemed like every other day. As i was putting in some electronic test gear, so i put in a fully bonded system of wiring. Inspector came out and said it was no good and i had to get rid of the bonding wire. I showed him the wording "This is required or better". He did not think it was better. I gave him two dollars to go get a cup of coffee. I hooked the wire to the trailer hitch and it was gone.

Well, ichitaka05, it's one thing for a mother to want to feather the nest for the arrival of a newborn ..... it's another thing for her to want to tear down the existing nest and move somewhere else and build a new nest while carrying a child or nurturing a newborn.

Having a child is stressful and moving is stressful.

Why compound the situation by combining the two stressful situations? Especially when you throw in the holidays and the COVID situation.

Maybe your queen could be convinced to do the relocating either well before before or several months after the arrival of the newborn?

Maybe things have changed in Oregon since you lived there?

Logic doesn’t make sense to prego. You should know that. Plus, her sister have moved into a house <month before first baby was born, so that excuse doesn’t work.

Thanks. Good to know about the brush killer.

I'm going to pull the tomatoes soon and do some soil work, then hit it again in the spring. I have some really nice neighbors that I think have every tool you can imagine. They downsized from 11 acres in Homedale to .7 acres here. They have a big tiller I can use anytime, and if that isn't enough, he'll bring over his John Deere.

I'm going to have soil test at Zamzows. They are family run lawn and garden stores that have been here for generations, and make all their own products. They have been helping farmers here for years. I'm sure they will be able to tell me exactly what combo of minerals my soil needs.

Well, ya, some of the early settler women gave birth in the back of a bouncing wagon along the Oregon trail in the middle of Kansas, but that doesn't mean your wife has to suffer undue stress.

As far as her sister, my brother joined the Marines and served a tour in Vietnam as a LLRP member (Long Range Recon Patrol). That didn't mean that I was going to join the Marines!

However, I reckon it's her call.

Be advised that this is what to expect when you move into your new house that is "just perfect the way it is". Honey, I know I said that this house was perfect BUT:

* the carpet has to be replaced, you can't expect our baby to crawl around on that filthy stuff.

* blackout curtains must be put into the babies room - can't be blinded by the sunlight.

* the walls in the babies room must be painted/wallpapered!

* a whole house water softener / water filtration system must be installed - the baby can't stand that hard, impure water.

* yes, install a baby monitor before the baby arrives.

* NO, we are NOT going to use that hand-me down, filthy baby furniture from my sister - our baby deserves NEW stuff.

However, starting a new family is a wonderful experience -
