Hey, if you never rode a Sting-Ray, you have no idea what you missed. They fell out of favor when everyone wanted to be a BMX star, but these were real cruisers. I probably put hundreds of miles on mine.

I had a regular Stingray, no hand brakes or shifter. I was still pretty young when the BMX thing hit. None of us could afford the new BMX bikes, so we did what we could go BMX our Stingrays. Strip off fenders and chain guards, 10 speed seat, and BMX handlebars.

Dang, I _think_ my dad had one of these in a green-ish color that we ended up selling at a garage sale before the last time my family moved.

All I remember about bikes from when I was a kid, is that we used to ride as fast as we could, jump off, and see how far the bike would go. The bikes with the best balance were the "coolest"

Moving forward a bit, the 90s were a magical time. Even our bikes had fanny packs. (Bum bag for JD001)

Probably stolen by that one kid who everyone claimed had ADHD, but in hindsight was most likely on speed.

I rode my BMX converted stingray down highway 9 a few times. We would sit at the bottom of hwy 9 at Saratoga and put our thumbs out when a truck came. Never took long. We would ride in the back of the truck, to the top, holding our bikes. Tank tops, levis cut-offs, going down 9 on a bike with nothing but a rear kick break.

Good times.
