Thanks all, installed with brake grease and tested at greater than the usual highway speeds with no movement. Hopefully the grease keeps the threads from corroding together.

They can still corrode apart, independently, in close physical proximity

Has anyone built a car port just for a roof? I'm looking to build a 30ftx10ft car port to park my deuce under. Its not on my property so I'm looking to do it for as cheap as possible.

how temporary do you want it?

one of those steel car ports is likely going to be your cheapest option.

i quickly looked up what it would cost to diy, and i'm at about $4400 for 30 12' prefab trusses(12" centers is a little much, could do 24" centers to save some), 60 4x4 pressure-treated 16' 4x4's, and 20 pieces of 3'-wide metal roof(would need the top roof rib as well). you'd still need concrete, a post hole digger(at least 3' down!) and likely some 2x4's to tie the trusses together.

It can stay there forever, I'm just storing the truck there for maybe a year, just wanted to keep the rain off of it. If its going to be more than a couple thousand I'll probably just cover it with a tarp. I like the idea of just being able to drive in and out though. Thanks for looking all that stuff up. It might be a future project that I'll neglect like all my others.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Weapons
Imagine yourself in a wondrous world filled with guns in this unofficial licensed IP young adult novel adapted to the big Hollywood movie screen! Hundreds of hours were invested into digitally replacing magic with guns throughout the entire movie.

I'm thinking a tarp would do just fine -

I have to caveat my endorsement, 'only to be used at "normal" highway speeds'. It is not clear how the grease will behave above "normal" highway speeds..

Look at HF as they have a tarp type storage shelter for 170 last month on sale. I was looking to cover a boat.
Next step up, look for metal cover shelters a long the road, they will have a phone number on the side. These guys come out and put them up in an hour and seem to last many years. I have a friend with a small farm and got two out in the field to put thing under.

the harbor freight ones were the first thing i tried looking up. they still sell a small 10x17 carport, and a 10x10 shed, but no longer offer the rv storage option they used to that would likely fit his 30' long dimension.
