Care to list said conditions that made the R1R the optimum tire?

It was cold (48 or so) with cold wind. Only the second time the lot has been used this year (low grip). Generally a cold day is a good day for street tires vs. r-comps, and the Toyos seem to be a better cold/wet tire than most of the normal street tires. So there are two pluses for us from a PAX perspective. The Hankook STR guys were having issues in the cold getting grip.

IN San Diego here it's 93db @50ft. They do care about that as well. Some regions dont care about sound due to their location.

Hard to say but it was loud enough I didn't like driving the car around. With the stock front pipe it's louder with the headers but not obnoxiously loud, don't think it would have problems passing sound. It may have been the tone of the exhaust too, it sounded like a chainsaw. I'm hoping the added Perrin resonator will mellow out the sound a bit.

Is that legal? My under cover ripped off and this is actually cheaper then buying a factory undercover

It looks like it can be construed as chassis stiffening, which isn't legal.

Ah, an opening for a question. In which class for autocross does chassis bracing become legal? I just can't decipher the rule set today

I believe it would put you in Prepared or Street Modified. The FRS/BRZ isn't competitive under that classing.

Ah yes, SM. So might as well spend 10K on a a full built turbo set up, wheels, truck & trailer. And, oh ya, win the lottery. Lol.
That is my biggest decision, get into the money classes, or just stay CS/STX and have extreme fun."but dear this $5000 AT mods will be really good for the car".
Lol.
It never ends. But, I am actually listening to all the long term gear heads here. I do "ONE" mod at a time. Race it and then see what else it needs. That is why I haven't done brake pads yet. For my driving I don't see the need at this time. It's a momentum car. Don't slow down, just set up the turn and go. I actually go out with the intention of spinning out. Trying to learn the limits of the car.
It has improved my driving skills and made me a more competitive driver.

False. Chassis stiffening isn't the wording the rulebook uses often. It only appears when discussing a few allowances for drivetrain mounting and some of the solid-rear axle allowances.

ST allows subframe connectors with limitations. it's within the Strut tower bar section.

Strut bars are fine, sure. I guess I don't really think of them as 'chassis stiffening' since it's not under the car. But that's my problem.

Nevertheless, the bar that's being discussed isn't legal.

Question for the vets: I am strongly considering ST coil overs for my STX build of C'Thulhu (see sig) and was wondering how well those will hold up to autocross duty. This car also serves as a DD and I am on a bit of a budget. I am trying to stay under $1k for coilovers and the ST seems like a good candidate. That said, if they're going to wear out after a couple seasons, then obviously that is not a good long term solution. I did a quick search of this thread for coilovers and did not find anything helpful towards my question. I am currently competing in the novice class in my local club and definitely have A LOT to learn about this fun and amazing sport, thanks in advance!
