What he was getting at though was from a daily driver standpoint. In order to feel any performance from the car, you are going to have to push in the high rpms to feel that inspiration. Doing that on the streets makes you look like a ricer running around reving his engine screaming how you have 8k or so rpms. Torque'er cars give you that performance inspiration without causing unwanted attention to yourself.

Because it's the Geneva autoshow.

Right, but with past press releases which come directly from the manufacturer they at least mention something about "also coming to North America.."

Because America sucks and we should all move to Europe.

meh..where'd all these people come from??

This isn't going to be a supercar folks..it's not going to be any faster than my wife's Rav 4..it's not going to do 13 sec 1/4's, sub 6 sec. 60's, or 1.x g's..if your "driver experience" includes those above, this is not the car for you. If you enjoy balance, controlability, and confidence inspiring, then you might get a little what this car is meant for. Wishcasting just isn't going to make it so.

Haha I'm loving the debates... I think the car looks good, mean looking. And yes I also think it looks more like a concept than the original but I guess we'll see. I'm sure it'll be N/A but I'd be supprised if they don't make a Turbo version down the line (like G-Sports or something); I'm really hoping for one anyways, and I'm not saying the car is gonna need it to make it good but I just would like to have one for personal preferance

Well, at least that shows that Toyota realizes that the big big big reason the AE86 was such a popular cult classic was because of the 4A-GE. The sleak sexy 80's styling is just a bonus

Gotta chuckle at all these powerheads wanting gobs amounts of low-end torque, a turbo, and 350+bhp in order to 'like the car'. For you guys, I sincerely hope (cause I'll be excited too!) that the new sports car to come out of Toyota is a Supra successor.

For the rest of us, and especially the fanbase they've badly teased with this car (AE86 fans), we want something as close to the 4A-GE as possible by today's emissions and safety standards. I DD'd my AE86 for 5 years and the only time it sucked was on long interstate trips (sup gearing), where it was staying steady at ~5k RPM at ~70ish MPH.

Cheers.

okay, having the video really brings it to life. the static pictures don't do the car justice. there are still a couple minor stylistic changes i'd like to see, but overall, to you, Toyota!

people argue too much about each body panel but if you see this is in person and moving i bet you'll have a new impression.. For me it still maintained it;s overall look from the 1st conscept and is still a winner compared to cars that are out today. This is really a work of art. I hope actual performance won't disappoint
