Ooops, I forgot to post up the results from the Springs Nats Champ Tour! Car was working better for that event after making some suspension changes after the ProSolo on the Lincoln test course. Mostly happy with how the car is working out there, now I just need more seat time to become more consistent and get to that next level that the really fast guys are on.

Been lazy with updates on local events. We had our series event #3 a weekend or so ago, ended up 2nd place to Mr. Santel as he edged me by 2 tenths on our best runs. He did put down a crazy time on his last run out (we got 5), but unfortunately grabbed a cone. That would have been .6 seconds quicker than my best coned run (cones that could have easily been avoided for both of us).
I'm getting more comfortable with the car and it is working well, minus a little corner exit push if I don't setup the entry correctly (fixable). I am working on getting the rear to rotate quicker when I shift weight to the front (either by brake or lift). Right now the rear sticks pretty well and it is hard to slide it when I want, I had the same "issue" with my e36 STX car. Hard part is getting it to do that and also be stable/grippy in high speed transitions and slaloms. Working on the video this week, in the meantime, some cool photos

My friend Brian (Briankbot on here) and I got into another discussion that weekend on which is the best approach. He heard, or read somewhere, that the pedal dance limits ABS to "1-way" versus "4-way" when you just use the buttons. The thought was 4-way ABS would help brake the car quicker and in a more controlled manner. We have no scientific evidence that supports either way, however I just tried with the buttons to see if I could feel a difference in the driving behavior. It did seem like the car stopped easier, but that could just be my imagination or from the suspension changes I made at Spring Nats. Who knows...I might try to test the differences again when we have a Test & Tune coming up.

So I had the car into 3R auto for a new setup and corner balance to try and fix a couple minor issues (mostly corner exit understeer and inability to trail brake slide the rear end on entry). Chris Mayfield did some magic and the car feels a good bit better and noticeably more balanced. I was finally able to slide the rear on demand when needed while still being mostly stable. Need a bit more seat time in it for experience and learning to drive it better. I've feel like I have yet to put in a solid run end to end, so definitely room for improvement.
Last weekends event ended up 7th in PAX out of 157 and 2nd in STX again behind Mr. Santel by a few tenths. Video up for enjoyment! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9ZSQtAQLz8[/ame]

What are you running for an alignment? (if you're willing to share).

I'll snap a photo of the setup sheet when I get home It's around -3.1f/-2.8r for camber, toe is mostly neutral.

Justin, you better ask Chris if having 31 psi in the RR and the other 3 tires flat would throw off the alignment...
Thanks for sharing. |
