There are a couple of kits running around in Aus, all used the app to tension the belt and none have snapped.
Even if it is the best method kraftwerks wouldnt tell you to do is as it would open up a can of worms. I don't know the consumer laws in the states but 4 snapped belts, after installing the based off their tech support information, try and swing the refund. |

I don't get it! Why not just DL the Gates app? It'll take all but 3 or so min to install on your phone. It doesn't matter what Kraftwerks says or recommend for belt tension specs. Weather, temperature and humidity affect belts differently based on your location. Its like installing the same performance parts your friend did and expect the same power. Who knows... it might just fix your headaches with this kit.

I'm 10k into my one and only belt. Used the gates app because everything else in the instructions either felt loose or way too tight. 60Hz feels just right. Took about a month to finally completely settle.
I figured I'd share because there are plenty of horror stories about the belts, but I'm positive there is much more success than horror stories. |

My car was supposed to be finished today, but when my mechanic started it after 10 minutes the belt snapped! I don't know the specifics on how much he tightened the belt, but we ordered a replacement and hopefully it goes better this time.

Just got everything finished today, drove the car 100 miles with no problems this time, hopefully it stays that way. Now I have to buy 700cc injectors for the e85 tune

My first belt snapped after about a year of driving as a daily plus one track visit. Its most likely due to me neglecting to check it since i have been fairly adamant about checking the tension based on how hot/cold it is outside but its broke none the less.
My dilemma was if i should do the upgrade and get the 35% off for those of us who have the old kit still or to buy the replacement 20mm belt. |
