The 2016 is available for order in our system. I ordered my 2015 in April of 2014 and 2015s were on the lots in July. So, 2016s should be on the lots in July.

But, people do put money down on leases and get a better deal when they finance their next car, sometimes even getting lower payments than what they were paying during their lease. Sometimes the risk is worth the reward!
A. Nobody really totals cars until they do. Unless you have special powers you probably shouldn't gamble on that.

B. lower payments =/= less financial burden, you're planning on paying for two cars over the next 6 years, I get the logic you're basically making pre-payments on the first car to buy the second (a second car which there is no guarantee of existing at all) but you won't get many financially conservative people agreeing with you, period.

Ultimately do what makes you happy, most of us view leasing as a way to have a car payment for a very long time and always be driving something to impress the Joneses, most of us would prefer money in the bank and owning the wheels, especially around here with a strong sentiment of 'buy it for life'.

...anyways, Scion usually has better lease specials than Subaru, but both occasionally offer 0.9% financing on the twins. If that's the case I'd Finance. I brought up leasing because I've leased before & it was definitely worth it, especially through a lease special. (However, I didn't finish the term and traded it in for a car I ended up buying.)

To get back on topic, if the 2016s are now open for orders, the press releases should be out soon. Subaru & Toyota usually announce them at the same time. I'm hoping for a standard rear-view camera like Australia is getting.

Speaking of Release Series, let's patternize the special editions (for fun):

MY2013: SCION 10 SERIES
MY2014: SCION MONOGRAM SERIES
MY2015: SCION RELEASE SERIES (FRS RS 1.0)
MY2016: TBD...

SCION 10 SERIES FR-S
- Sold along 10 Series xB, xD, tC, & iQ
- Announced March 28, 2013
- Revealed at New York International Auto Show

SCION MONOGRAM EDITION FR-S
- Sold along Monogram tC & iQ
- Announced January 9, 2014
- Revealed via Press Release

SCION RELEASE SERIES FR-S 1.0
- Sold along xB RS 10.0
- Announced April 16, 2014
- Revealed at New York International Auto Show

So, will MY2016 be the first model year without a special edition? Or will Scion unveil it around late winter? I don't think we will get a RS2.0. Probably something along the lines of the Monogram Series. And it will probably be announced in a press release =p

dealership confirmed MY2016 will bring a few changes to the table. rear back up camera, some silver interior trim will be added. touchscreen will be bigger and have rear back up camera added. new colors are ablaze red and oceanic blue (which I'm sure just replace firestorm and ultramarine). another year of guessing when/if turbo edition is coming. sorry if this has already been said.

will be releasing in june.

Sounds pretty accurate even without a source. It just makes sense because that's basically what's been said about the 86 a few months ago. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up bro! I'm really hoping they get here on that shipment for july 4. I'm getting really anxious to buy it.

That looks like the GT86 GTS Aero package aka "Nur Spec" body kit that's been available in the rest of the world. Interesting if true. First RS 1.0 was a slightly modified TRD kit so a Nur Spec for the 2.0 could make sense. Why spend money on developing something new when they could just import an already existing OEM body kit from another market, slap a one-off color on it, and charge thousands of dollars more.
