The added weight and complexity (lower transmission efficiency) means that the 320 hp EVO will be heavier than a 320 hp BRZ.
If you want to make the arguement:
2800 lb, 320hp 4WD EVO-X (they actually weigh 3500 lbs)
Versus
2800 lb, 320hp RWD BRZ

Then yes the EVO will win, but if you just take a stock evo-x against BRZ boosted to 320 hp, the BRZ should win the drag race.

There's no replacement for displacement unfortunately. You force induce a good V8 on the drag strip with some slicks and it's game over. This car has potential, but against a GT500, Hellcat, or ZL1, it's going to get ugly. The amount of downforce that modern high end racecars like F1 have now has increased corner speeds so much that awd would slow these types of cars down in the corners. They are carrying so much speed through the corners that they don't need the extra traction to get going again. It would just cause more drag rolling the center of the corner, and increased tire wear. Purpose built drag cars are never awd either. Saying that awd is the best for anything is simply not true. Street cars are far different with rough dirty roads, increased weight, hard tires made to last 40k+ miles instead of only 100, very little downforce, etc. Even then, a 2wd car is going to be better in certain situations. awd doesnt stop or turn any better.

The Audi Quattro is the car to beat in Hillclimb & ice racing.
And of course AWD is the deisred config for Rally.

Ok everybody, we're not talking about purpose built drag cars, F1 cars, or any kind of race car. We're talking about modified street cars with no where near enough power to cause a complete transfer of weight from the front wheels, especially if the suspension is stiff. AWD street cars in general are able to put power down better, but also harder to launch smoothly. There are lots of factors on how AWD and RWD cars launch effectively - the suspension & diff in the FRS/BRZ are not optimized for drag racing. In the end, stories like this usually come down to driver skill, especially with launching. If you want to compare outright power and engine flexibility, do 3rd gear roll, and see how well your 320whp FRS goes.

You're wrong on so many levels it's not even funny anymore. Guess what, when you say equal traction on both cars that's in an ideal situation which never happens. I watched a wrx run a 10.99@126 and I ran a 11.11@129 on the same track, same day, same lane. You can only use what power you can put to the ground and awd puts power to the ground better that's why it was invented.
